SOLIDARITY● Joint interests or purposes or sympathies among members of a group

● Unity (as of a group or class) that produces or is based on common interests,

objectives, and standards.

For a Christian, SOLIDARITY means that we’re connected with our neighbors: whoever they

are, whether close by or across the world. We can’t, as Christians, just say:

“I’ll take care of myself, I don’t care about my poor next-door neighbour.”

Extension: Subsidiarity is an equally important part of Catholic teaching. It’s the idea that

problems should be solved at the smallest and most intimate level possible. For example,

the government shouldn’t be solving problems that local communities can solve.

Like SOLIDARITY, this is another aspect of charity. This is an individual showing the love of

Christ.

● Solidarity● Togetherness● Unity● Community● Voices● Protest● Example● Protest● Oneness

● AID TO THE CHURCH IN NEED CARES FOR ALL PEOPLE. WE BELIEVE EVERY PERSON IS MADE IN THE IMAGE OF GOD AND SHOULD BE RESPECTED. WE HELP CATHOLIC CHRISTIANS, OTHER CHRISTIANS AND PEOPLE OF ALL RELIGIOUS FAITHS INCLUDING JEWS, MUSLIMS AND SIKHS.

● EVERY PERSON SHOULD HAVE THE FREEDOM TO CHOOSE THEIR RELIGION, OR CHOOSE NOT TO BELIEVE.

● HOWEVER, OF ALL THE RELIGIOUS DISCRIMINATION TAKING PLACE TODAY ACROSS THE WORLD, 80% OF IT IS DIRECTED AGAINST CHRISTIANS.

WHAT IS RED WEDNESDAY?

The Body of Christ

In 2014, Pope Francis told the pilgrims at St Peter’s Square that the church is a mother who knows how to help her children most in need: "pick up the child who falls, heal the sick, seek the lost, wake up the sleeping, and also defend her defenceless and persecuted children."

If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honoured,

every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ,

and each of you is a member of it.

For those who are non-Catholic Christians:we are all united through our Baptism.

For those who are not Christians: all people of faith share a belief in God .

For those who do not believe in God:all people share in a common humanity and we all share the in our hopes for peace, dignity and freedom for all.

#RedWednesday - Wednesday 28th November

Join with Aid to the Church in Need to honour those who have suffered because of

their religion, and stand in solidarity with millions of people, targeted for their

beliefs and living in fear.

Throughout the world people are being persecuted because of their Faith. The

young, the old, women and children, priests, Sisters and religious leaders are

victims of kidnap, torture and death.

In partnership with Aid to the Church in Need, on the evening of #RedWednesday,

Westminster Cathedral will light up its iconic facades Red. This profound act of

solidarity will be joined by other faith groups as a tribute to all who, in recent

times, suffer injustice and risk their lives for their faith.

It is Christ Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us. Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril,

or sword? As it is written, "For your sake we are being killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep to be

slaughtered." No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced

that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
