    Old Media

Old media (traditional media, heritage media, legacy media) are media platforms that were essentially derived from an industrial paradigm.

Created and developed in the late 19th and first half of the 20th centuries, these platforms newspapers, magazines, radio and television are essentially instruments of mass communication targeting large aggregated audiences, albeit within their own specific markets.(Harrison 2009:9)

    Web 1.0 - Information Web

The Web 1.0 otherwise known as the Information Web or the Brochurewave

Focuses on Companies - advertising a catchy song we all know and

love e.g. (L ets all go to the lobby song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqPcdVmz5BQ )

The one we all know and love, is straightforward. Its full of content that we can surround with ads, mainly in the form of banners. Many marketers look at this as an extension of offline media print and

television. Sadly, they tend to use it the same way. (Greg Smith, 2009 cited in Harrison:10)

    Web 3.0 SEMANTIC WEB

    (Making sense of information)

The Web 3.0 otherwise known as the Semantic Web Focuses on Individuals

Web 3.0takes (the web) a step further adding machine -readable meaning to the packets of information. It is thus known to the technically minded as the semantic web.

    David Bradley 2009 http://www.sciencetext.com/meta-tags.html

Hyperlocalisation can lead to the Advertisers cashing in on the consumers (our)needs.

It will allow us to receive the news we want to hear and see News my way. This can lead to general ignorance of the population and lack of general

    knowledge

    Entitlement

IS IT THE DEATH OF JOURNALISM?This has already led to pay walls in many of the worlds leading newspapers. What's next?Only 14% of people are least resistant to pay for newspapers as the majority believe that we arenow entitled to the news.

However this kind of subscription has been going on for decades e.g. The London Gazette firstpublished as the Oxford Gazette was a subscription newspaper running from 1665 till today

Besides if people just want the

headlines they can always just go tonews stations online SKY, CNN, ABCetc. and get it there. On the Web one has just to type in aheadline story and there arethousands of News Articles giving

    different points of view.

New and Old MediaSince the arrival today's "New Media" which has moved so progressively

fast there is now huge competition between this New Media and the Old Media.

Now the New Media is the virtual world of the web and the viral worldof television and video.

The Old Media" is the old reliable print whether it be Newspapers,Magazines or Radio which in turn is progressing to going viral andvirtual.

Continued Or perhaps the old reliable journalism may be on a comeback and this

new media just gives both Old and New Media more platforms to lettheir voice be heard.

Whether it be through a pen and paper or the virtual world the (excusethe pun) truth is out there.

And with these words in mind I leave you with 'Radio Ga Ga' by Queen toshow you that media's final hour, whether it be through pictures, words or video, is not over yet.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t63_HRwdAgk
