  • In the aftermath of the collapsed Second Penang Bridge of the ramp in Batu Maung, Penang Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) director was reported saying that the contractor could be charged under the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) 1994 if he or she were found to have failed to adhere to the provision.

DOSH has a month to carry out a probe before presenting the findings to the Human Resources Ministry, ...

The department would call the contractor involved soon to facilitate investigations which would cover all aspects.

We have started our investigation, with the assistance of forensics from Putrajaya, to identify the cause for the ramp collapse,

The investigation would focus on the building design, the installation method, workers supervision, soil factor and the safety system that was used to see if there was any breach of the Occupational Safety and Health Act, he added.

  • GEORGE TOWN, June 7 The collapse of the ramp of the Second Penang Bridge could be due to the failure of the formwork support, said the Department of Safety and Health (DOSH).

early investigations had found that this was the cause of the collapse of the ramp

Formwork is a term for a temporary or permanent mould in which concrete or similar materials are poured.

He said DOSH was now investigating the safety operating procedures of the project.

Our team of investigating officers arrived at the scene last night to conduct investigations into this incident

high-risk work and DOSHwill investigate if all safety measures were taken

If we have evidence that no proper safety measures were taken, we will take court action against the contractor,
