The lecturer explained the necessity of reflecting about the

situation that women suffer in our society. According to her, most

of women do not have equal access to education compared to men

nor do they have the chance to succeed in life as professionals. In

addition, the lack of education in sexual issues is reflected on the

fact that many young women give birth prematurely. As a result,

the become housewives instead of independent workers in high

positions of companies.

The orator also mentioned that UNICEF is committed with plans

to foster maternal health and reduce infantile mortality.

Furthermore, the speaker talked about the importance of changing

some of the ideas that the society has implanted about the passive

role of women. She said there is great effort to make people aware

about the education of women; one of the strongest proponents is

Barak Obama´s wife.

Likewise, the speaker told some examples of mistreats toward

girls in our education system. Some of them are very subjective

though. For example, Teachers are more interactive with men than

with women. Also, boys receive prizes when they perform well.

Similarly, she said that teachers instruct girls by doing what they

have to do. On the other hand, teachers explain the male students

how to do what they are required to do.

Finally, education for girls should be equal to the education that

men receive because according to the arguments of the lecturer

there is still a lot of genre inequality, continuation of stereotypes,

and passiveness in this matter.
