Learn, Live, Love, Laugh & Leave A Legacy

Our 2nd grade team is the embodiment of Learn, Live, Love, Laugh...let’s meet them! Mrs. Myers is loving being in her sixth year of teaching 2nd grade at Legacy Point. She received her Elementary Teaching License with a degree in Interdisciplinary Education at Fort Lewis College, in Durango, Colorado in 2002. Living in Durango gave her the ability to combine her schooling with her other interests-- exploring the mountains: climbing, hiking, snowboarding, camping, fishing, white water rafting—you name it, she loves it! Mrs. Myers lives in Parker with her husband and their two wonderful kids, Mary and Donovan, and their little pom, Teddybear. They enjoy being a part of the Legacy Point community and all that it has to offer. This is Mrs. Simonette’s sixth year teaching at Legacy Point, where she is currently enjoying the students in 2nd grade. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas with her Bachelors degree in Elementary Education in 2011. After graduation, she moved across the world to live in Malaysia for 2 years! November Habit/Home-School Connection Habit 1: Be Proactive

Many classrooms are talking about ways they can be proactive rather than reactive in their lives. Building a habit of

proactivity is more than just being prepared. Highly effective students and adults: pause and respond based on desired

results; use proactive language (such as: I can, I’m sorry, I choose to…); focus on their Circle of Influence; and become a

transition person.

This video from Manny and Clark discusses what it means to be PROactive versus REactive and discuss with your

students about times when you have been one or the other--and there’s great footage of Manny eating a lemon! Ew!

Some other videos you can watch with your students are about what it means to be a “Transition Person” for someone

else. A transition person is someone who helps another person “flip the switch” and break the cycle of ineffective

behaviors and replace them with active behaviors.

Transition Person Video: K-2

Transition Person Video: 3-5

If you need some topics of conversation around the dinner table or in the car as you are shuttling your students around

town, consider these questions…

• How can words like CAN and WILL help you be the leader of your life?

• What are choices you can make at home or at school that will help you be proactive?

• What are healthy ways to express anger or frustration?

• How might you help someone “flip the switch” when things are hard?

We look forward to seeing everyone’s proactive attitudes this month!!

Are you Ready to ROCK(wall)?

Thank you Legacy Point students, staff, families and community! Because of you and your generosity we will be able to

order our rock wall very soon!! Our wall will be a “traversing” wall that will be 8 feet high and around 20 feet long.

Students will have opportunity to climb up or across the wall. This wall will allow Mrs. Merritt to introduce students to a

new and adventurous sport. Students will learn safety and climbing techniques associated with the wall as well as fun

games that can be played using the wall. We are so excited that our school is getting this exciting piece of equipment and

know that the students are really looking forward to it as well.

Time to Give Thanks and Other Lunch Fun

Parents and other important adults are welcome to join students during their lunch time on Wednesday, November 14th for one our favorite holiday season traditions, the Thanksgiving Feast! This special lunch features turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, herb stuffing buttered green beans, snickerdoodle cookies, and fresh veggie salad bar with fresh fruit. The price for adult lunches and non-LPE students will be $4.25 per lunch. Please RSVP using this link by November 1st. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone here for this fun event!!

Speaking of lunch, we all want to eat a delicious one and the Legacy Point Cafeteria has new and exciting lunch items for

fall and winter! Check out your November lunch menu on the Nutrislice App! A reimbursable lunch is only $2.85, which

includes your main entree, harvest bar, and milk or water.

Mrs. Terri and Mrs. Melissa look forward to serving you an awesome, amazing, and delicious lunch!

Open Enrollment Starting Soon!

The fall open enrollment window opens November 1st and ends December 3rd. If you have neighbors or friends that don’t attend LPE, please encourage them to attend one of our Open Enrollment presentations. We will be sharing everything that makes Legacy Point Elementary the BEST elementary school in the Parker area. Dates and times for the November presentations are in our “Dates to Remember” section. Thank you for sharing your love for LPE!

Explorer Celebrations!

A big congratulations to Lydia P. in Mrs. Rakovich’s 1st

grade! Her poster was chosen as one of the 20 finalists!

She will be receiving a special certificate from the Mayor

to recognize her hard work and pride in our Town!

Congrats to Kara K. in Mrs. Conn’s class for winning 3rd

Place in the Town of Parker’s poster contest. The theme

was “The Town of Parker is Great Because...” and we are

so proud of Kara for her hard work and beautiful art! She

will get to have lunch with Mayor Mike Waid later this

month. If you see her, make sure you congratulate her! A special shout-out to Mrs. Waufle’s 4th grade “Breakfast of Champions” fun run team for earning the most money per student--their hard work helped us go above and beyond our fundraising goal!

Many classes

participated in the foam

party to celebrate

success in the fun run

which was “bursting”

with fun for the

students!!

Explorers Exploring

As part of their social studies learning, the 2nd graders visited Lowell Ranch, where they had the BEST time! They

learned about the goods and services provided by and needed by the Ranch. Learning the differences between scarcity

and abundance was a huge topic of learning! Even though water is scarce on the Ranch, the ranch had an abundant

pumpkin crop this year and let all the kids take a pumpkin home! They also learned about boundaries that communities

need too. As you can see by the photos, fun was had by all.

Spooky Good Times in Music!

2nd graders learning instruments to the song, “Pass the Pumpkin”

Mrs. Silver has been “scaring” up some fun for the students this month! Students learned different fall and Halloween

songs while learning how to play different instruments. Students also learned a dance to a Halloween classic which many

parents may recognize-“Monster Mash!” Students danced to this song during the Halloween parade in the gym on the

31st. We are so fortunate to have Mrs. Silver here at LPE!
