Metro’s Transportation Solution is a $5.2 billion infrastructure investment in our future that will be funded by a range of fees

like business, sales, and tourism taxes. It includes:

• Existing Bus Service Improvements: Beginning in 2019, we’ll enhance our existing bus service with upgraded state-of-the-art electric

buses, more crosstown routes, 15-minute peak service on busy routes, buses running 20 hours out of every day, and a reduction in

travel time on some trips by 80 percent.

• Rapid Bus: Soon after, we’ll begin to introduce Rapid Bus service along Dickerson Road, Hillsboro Road, West End Avenue,

and The Bordeaux Route.

• Light Rail: By 2026, we’ll begin to open Nashville’s first light rail lines along four of our busiest corridors – Gallatin Road, Nolensville

Road, Charlotte Avenue, and Murfreesboro Road out to the airport. And we’re creating a light rail line using existing rails that will run

along the Northwest Corridor to Buchanan Street.

• Downtown: We’re even going underground! All light rail and Rapid Bus lines going into and out of downtown will travel through a

three-stop, state-of-the-art tunnel running beneath 5th Avenue from Charlotte to SoBro serving the region’s job, economic, and

entertainment center.

• Neighborhood Transit Centers: Beginning in 2019, Metro will start construction on nearly two dozen convenient Neighborhood Transit

Centers to be phased in over a five-year period. These hubs of mobility will offer safe, easy access to the entire system – including its

new park-and-rides, bike facilities and sidewalks.

Nashville is a city on the move. Our economy is diverse and thriving. Our Music City brand is famous worldwide.

Our reputation for creativity and culture is second-to-none. But good growth has also brought bad traffic.

And it’s taking a toll. It’s time to solve this problem and bring transportation independence to all Nashvillians. Right now.

Mayor Megan Barry and our Metropolitan Government have a bold, comprehensive plan –

Let’s Move Nashville will bring benefits to everyone, no matter how they get around and whatever their age, ability or income.

And these benefits go far beyond better transportation. It means:

• Access: We’ll provide our youth, elderly, disabled and disadvantaged citizens with more travel options, new and cleaner buses,

more convenient routes and on-demand technology.

• Jobs: We’ll provide opportunities for good paying jobs for Davidson County residents during construction and operation

of the transit network.

• Sustainability: We’ll reduce smog and greenhouse gas emissions by offering electric buses and light rail, bike lanes, and

sidewalks as alternatives to cars.

• Affordable Housing: We’ll capture the increased value of property along light rail and rapid bus corridors to reinvest in

affordable and workforce housing near transit lines, lowering cost burdens on working families.

• Safety: We’ll fix Nashville’s most dangerous intersections, improve existing crosswalks and traffic signals, and invest in

sidewalks connected to neighborhoods.

• Community: Most importantly, we’ll keep our communities connected to each other, and help preserve everything we

love about Nashville – even as our city grows.
