SMARTWORX VIVA V4.00 RELEASE NOTES - INTRODUCTION These Release Notes contain important information about the following softwares:

- SmartWorx Viva software version 4.00 - GS10/15 Sensor software version 4.00

Please do take your time to read these Release Notes. They contain a summary of what is new within the v4.00 softwares and information on how to obtain and load the softwares. It is strongly recommended you use the Leica myWorld portal to upgrade your CS Field Controllers, GS10/15 Sensors and TS total stations with the new softwares. Click https://myworld.leica-geosystems.com/irj/portal to access the portal. Important – please take care to read the following notes carefully Customer Care Product (CCP) dates

The SmartWorx Viva software version 4.00 can only be loaded onto CS Field Controllers which have a CCP date of 01 November 2011 or later. The SmartWorx Viva software version 4.00 can only be loaded onto TS11/15 Total Stations which have a CCP date of 01 November 2011or later. The GS10/15 Sensor software version 4.00 can be loaded onto all GS10/15 Sensors regardless of the CCP date.

Jobs, Coordinate Systems, Working Styles, RTK Profiles and other objects

All SmartWorx Viva “objects” (such as Jobs, Coordinate Systems, Working Styles, RTK profiles etc) created or used within previous SmartWorx Viva firm-ware versions can be used without problems in SmartWorx Viva v4.00.

Version compatibility between CS Field Controllers and GS10/15 Sensors

The new v4.00 softwares must be loaded to both the CS Field Controllers and GS10/15 Sensors. It is not possible to use a CS Field Controller running earlier SmartWorx Viva software versions with a TS Total Station or GS10/15 Sensor running v4.00 soft-ware. Similarly it is not possible to use a CS Field Controller running SmartWorx Viva v4.00 software with a GS10/15 Sensor running earlier software. Ensure v4.00 softwares are loaded to all CS Field Controllers, TS Total Sta-tions and GS10/15 Sensors.

Version compatibility between CS Field Controllers and TS11/15 Total Sta-tions

The new v4.00 softwares must be loaded to both the CS Field Controllers and TS11/15 Total Stations. It is not possible to use a CS Field Controller running earlier SmartWorx Viva software versions with a TS11/15 Total Station running v4.00 software. Similarly it is not possible to use a CS Field Controller running SmartWorx Viva v4.00 soft-ware with a TS11/15 Total Station running earlier software. New GS08/12 soft-ware version

There is also a new software version for GS08/12 sensors. Ensure to load the latest software to all GS08/12 Sensors.

SMARTWORX VIVA SOFTWARE IMPROVEMENTS – LEICA GEOSYSTEMS TRUSTED SERVICES Leica Exchange

Leica Exchange is the latest service to be offered by Leica Geosystems for SmartWorx Viva users.

Leica Exchange allows data to be transferred extremely easily between users – between the office and the field users and even between field users or even of-fice users. For example, the following scenarios show how Leica Exchange can improve the overall efficiency and productivity of a company

- As soon as the field work is complete, the survey data can be transferred to the office for quick verification before the field team leaves the site. The office team can immediately start processing the data, and if needed instruct the field team to collect additional data. This can save the field crew having to visit the site a second time.

- A change in the design from the office can be sent to the field crew. The

field crew are immediately notified that new data is available and can download and use the new design. With the most up-to-date data, ex-pensive re-work can be avoided.

- A field crew arrives on site and had forgotten the codelist to be used. In-

stead of driving all the way back to the office, the office team can imme-diately send the field crew the codelist.

In order to use Leica Exchange, the following is needed.

- Leica Exchange Office Software and related license key. - Leica Exchange license key for the CS Field Controller or TS total station - Leica Exchange subscription - myWorld account to administer users

Using Leica Exchange within SmartWorx Viva is extremely simple. Access the Leica Exchange menu using 4, 4, 7 from the main menu.

From here, data can be sent to the office and data can be retrieved from the office. The status of the data transfer and the connection status can be viewed. The table below details some of the additional features and benefits of using Leica Exchange.

Feature Benefit Transfer data from the field to any number of users (field and/or office).

For example the GPS survey crew may have just com-pleted surveying all the control points within a site. Other field crews are waiting for the coordinates of these control points in order to start their work. The GPS survey crew can transfer the job to all other survey crews working on this site.

Immediate noti-fication to the field user when data has been transferred to him

Once the field user has entered his user name and pass-word, then the user is connected to the Leica Exchange server. Once data is sent to that user, the “Internet connection” icon is updated to show the user there is some data to be downloaded.

Recognition of SmartWorx Viva “objects” - Jobs - Road jobs - Rail jobs - Tunnel jobs - DTM jobs - Codelists - Coordinate

systems - CAD files

(.dxf, .shp) - Data files (.txt

SmartWorx Viva “objects” are recognised as objects mak-ing it easier to select the correct object to send. For example, when sending a job, all files relating to the job are automatically sent. When “getting data” the object being downloaded is recog-nised and once transferred to the users CS Field Controller or TS total station, the object is placed in the appropriate folder.

Various configu-ration settings to make the trans-ferring of data simpler

The SmartWorx Viva user can configure the following in the Configuration panel of Leica Exchange

- When sending a job, it is possible to configure whether to attach image files and/or CAD files relating to the job. Choosing not to attach image files and/or CAD files makes the size of the file being transferred much smaller - When getting job and data objects, it is possible to con-figure to which memory device (SD card, CF card, USB stick or internal memory) these objects should be stored to.

- The order in which the objects on the CS Field Controller or TS total station are shown can be configured. It may make it easier to select objects if the most recently used objects are at the top of the list - The object types which are shown can be configured. It may make it easier to only show the objects which are frequently transferred.

All objects are zipped prior to transfer

In order to minimise the amount of data being transferred, all objects are zipped before being transferred.

Secure data transfer

Data is transferred with the highest security.

Continue to work while data trans-fer is in progress

It is possible to continue working with the CS Field Control-ler or TS total station while data is being transferred. This includes receiving RTK corrections via the Internet, or any other Internet related activities

SMARTWORX VIVA SOFTWARE IMPROVEMENTS – IMAGING RELATED IMPROVEMENTS 3D Data Overlay in Camera page tab

When using the camera on the TS11/15 imaging total stations, it is now possible to view points, lines and areas stored within the job in the Camera page tab within apps – a true 3D data overlay. As the total station is turned the points, lines and areas are correctly positioned over the camera image. Points which are further away from the total station are shown smaller (in the correct perspective) than points closer to the total station.

All points can be shown – total station measured points, GNSS measured points, control points and so on. The symbol shape with which the point is displayed depends on the class of the point. For example, control points are shown as triangles and measured points are shown as spheres. The 3D data overlay is shown when working onboard the total station but also when working robotically with a CS Field Controller. There are a number of settings which can help optimise the viewing of the points, lines and areas within the Camera page tab. The distance sliders The distance sliders can be activated by pressing the distance slider toolbar button on the toolbar. The bottom slider allows the “minimum distance” to be set. The minimum dis-tance means that only points, lines and areas which are further away from the than this distance are shown. The top slider allows the “maximum distance” to be set. The maximum distance means that only points, lines and areas which are closer to the than this distance are shown. It can be useful to filter what is viewed in this way when there are many points in a job. Points, Lines and Areas display The display of points, lines and areas from a job can be configured in the Cam-era View Settings panel, Points display and Lines / areas display page tabs.

- the information displayed alongside the point - the colour of the point symbol - the number of points to be displayed - if only points measured from the current total station setup should be

shown Note also that the points which are shown also depend on the general data man-agement point, line and area filter settings.

Video streaming from Viva TS Imag-ing total stations to CS Field Controllers

The viewing of what the total station can see (from the total station wide angle camera) on the CS Field Controller has been greatly improved. A “video” is now streamed from the TS total station to the CS Field Controller which provides an update rate of 10Hz. This means the user can see much more clearly exactly what the total station can “see”. The 10Hz update rate is only possible when using the CTS radio cap on the CS Filed Controller and RH16 radio handle on the TS total station. More information on the CTS radio cap and RH16 is provided later in the release notes. Other communication devices (such as the internal CS Field Controller total sta-tion radio and like a radio handle RH15 radio handle) can still be used, but pro-vide only a 3Hz update rate.

Panoramic Image Capture

It is now possible to capture “panoramic” images from the TS imaging total sta-tions. From the Leica TPS Favourites menu (or use a hot key) select the Panoramic image option to access the panel where the type of panoramic image to be cap-tured can be selected.

The following panoramic image types can be selected:

- Rectangular area - Multi-row 360° image - Single-row 360° image - Polygonal area

After selecting the image type the extents of the area to be captured are defined.

Once the extents are defined the image capturing can be started. Once all im-ages are captured, they are then stitched to form one image. The image can then be sketched on if desired, as with any other image. The image can then finally be stored and can be linked to the total station setup point if desired.

Sketch Pad Tem-plates

With SmartWorx Viva v3.50, the use of sketch pad templates was introduced. This allowed to sketch on lined or grid “paper”. The ability for the user to create his own sketch templates has now been added. Sketch templates can be created in any software such as Microsoft Word, Paint.NET for example. All that is needed is that ultimately a .jpg file must be created which is less then 5Mpixel in size. The .jpg file(s) must then be transferred to the TS Total Station or CS Field Con-troller. The file must be placed in the Config/Sketch_Template folder of the memory device being used. The sketch templates can then be transferred using

the existing Transfer User Objects panel which has been extended to support sketch templates.

Once the sketch templates are transferred to the TS Total Station or CS Field Controller then they can be selected to be used.

Once selected the sketch template can be sketched on as normal.

The possibilities of using pre-defined sketch templates are endless. Some exam-ples are given below

- as a check list for a non-experienced surveyor to check the total station is setup correctly

- information collection for any objects being surveyed - stakeout check list (peg in ground, dig depth written on peg)

- etc etc etc A sketch template can be created in a variety of ways. An easy way to create a sketch template is to use Power Point. Setup the slide size and add the required graphical elements, text or tables and save the slide as JPEG file. To do this, access the File menu and select Save As, in the Save As Type list box choose JPEG File Interchange Format. Other software (such as Microsoft Word etc) could be used to create a sketch template. Either directly save it as JPG file, convert it to JPG or simply use a screen capture program.

SMARTWORX VIVA SOFTWARE IMPROVEMENTS – MAP RELATED IMPROVEMENTS Tap Map and exten-sions to pop-up menus

What is the “Tap-Map”? The tap-map can be accessed from the main menu of SmartWorx Viva by press-ing F6(Map).

The data shown in this map is configured by pressing F3(Jobs) – here it is pos-sible to choose from which jobs data should be shown. This can be either the Working job or Control job and in addition could also show data from a Road job and/or DTM job. This is useful since it could be it is needed to select points to stake out from a control job. In this case, choose to show data from the control job – tap on the point to be staked and choose the Stake point option from the pop-up context menu. Or it could be that it is needed to select an alignment from the road job and stake a slope from this alignment. In this case, choose to show data from the road – tap on the alignment to be used and choose the Use in Roads option from the pop-up context menu. The tap-map basically allows the objects to be used to be selected and then decide what is needed to be done with the objects. What was previously possible in SmartWorx Viva? In SmartWorx Viva v3.50 it was already possible to select single elements of a CAD drawing attached to a job (.dxf or .shp files) within the Map page tab in cer-tain screens of the software. It was then possible to tap and hold and a “pop-up context menu” would appear. In SmartWorx Viva v4.00 the selection of objects within the Map page tab and the contents of the pop-up context menus has been greatly extended.

How many map objects can be tapped and selected? It is now possible to tap and select multiple objects (previously only one object at a time could be selected). Which map objects can be tapped and selected? The following map objects can be tapped and selected

- elements of a CAD file (as before) - Points, lines or areas which have been measured and already stored to

a job - Road alignments stored to a Road job

How can objects be selected? Objects can be selected by simply tapping on the object. To deselect on an ob-ject, simply tap on it again. It is also possible to select multiple objects using the “window select” toolbar button. This is located on the “second level” of the zooming toolbar.

Once the “window select” toolbar button has been pressed, multiple objects can be selected by dragging a rectangular window around the objects to be selected. Dragging the window from right to left will only include all lines and alignments fully within the rectangle. Dragging the window from left to right will include all lines and alignments which are fully within the rectangle and also those crossing

the rectangle. How is the pop-up context menu activated? Once the required objects have been selected then tap and hold. The “pop-up” context menu will appear. What options appear in the pop-up context menu? The options which appear in the pop-up context menu depend on which objects have been selected. For example, if 2 measured points have been selected then one menu option will be Create line (which then creates a line between the 2 points).

If 3 measured points have been selected then in addition to the Create line menu option will also be the Create area menu option. In which maps can objects be selected and the pop-up context menu be used? The Map page tab is available in many places throughout SmartWorx Viva – it is possible to select objects and use the pop-up menu in most of these maps. Note that some of the menu options may be different depending on which app is being used.

Drawing toolbar within map page tabs

The drawing toolbar is available to be used within the Map page tabs in the Tap-Map and the Survey app. To turn it on, access the Map View Settings panel (Fn+F2(Conf)). The drawing toolbar allows lines and areas to be created, opened and closed and points to be added to lines and areas – this is sometimes called Linework. Points already measured can be easily added to lines and areas and also as points are being surveyed can be added to lines and areas.

The easiest way to explain how the drawing toolbar can be used is to describe some use cases relating to linework. Use case 1 – Linework while surveying points In this use case, the surveyor wishes to add points to lines and areas as the points are being surveyed. When the surveyor comes across an object to be surveyed such as a fence, the Create line toolbar button on the drawing toolbar button can be used to create a new line. Now as points are surveyed, they are added to the line. When a line or area is open the buttons within the toolbar change. It is now pos-sible to survey points to the line by simply surveying more points. The Join points as straight lines toolbar button shows the points will be added with a straight line between them. Note that because a line is open, the ability to tap and select multiple points is disabled. If the surveyor wishes create an arc between points one of the two arc toolbar buttons can be used. If the Join next 3 points as arc toolbar buttons is pressed then the next 3 points which are surveyed will be added as an arc to the line. If the Join next 2 points as arc toolbar buttons is pressed then the next 2 points which are surveyed will be added as an arc to the line – the last point in the line when the toolbar button was pressed is used as the first point in the arc. Additionally, when the line is open, it is possible to define the line style and col-our of the line. Activate the second level of the toolbar and select the line style and colour. When the surveyor has finished adding points to that line, the Stop button can be pressed to close the line. Use case 2 – Linework with already surveyed points In this use case, the surveyor has already measured lots of points. The points were measured as quickly as possible and the surveyor did NOT create lines and add these points to lines as he was surveying. The surveyor can now sit in his truck and use the drawing toolbar to do his line-work.

Using the drawing toolbar and tapping on the Create line toolbar button the sur-veyor creates a new line. As the new line is created, the line is also automatically opened. The surveyor can now tap on the already surveyed points and add them to the line. The arc and the line style and colour toolbar buttons can be used as before. It is now possible to repeat the process and create additional lines and areas as described above.

Viewing of DTM sur-faces within Stake-out map view

The triangles of the DTM job chosen to be used are now shown with the Stake-out DTM and Stakeout DTM and Points apps.

It is also possible to configure the colour in which the DTM is shown.

Reverse of east-west and north/south di-rections in map view

It is now possible to switch the easting and/or northing coordinates of CAD files being imported and/or displayed. This may be useful in countries where the orientation of a CAD file is switched. To do this, access the Regional Settings panel, Coords page tab.

This setting is then applied to all apps which import or display CAD files.

SMARTWORX VIVA SOFTWARE IMPROVEMENTS – TOTAL STATION SPECIFIC IMPROVEMENTS Improved lock per-formance at short distances

The lock performance of a robotic total station has been improved. This is proba-bly most useful when working with the prism at a short distance from the total station. In order to activate this improved performance then tick the High dynamics at short range check box in the Measure & Target Settings panel.

Support of the CTR CS Field Controller radio cap and RH16 total station radio handle

The CS CTR15 “total station radio cap” for the CS15 CS Field Controllers and the RH16 “radio handle” for the TS15 total station are now supported within SmartWorx Viva. The new radio cap combined with the new radio handle allows the video stream-ing feature from the TS total station to the CS Field Controller (see above). Another advantage of using the new radio cap and radio handle is that an unlim-ited number of users using this radio cap and radio handle robotic setup combi-nation can work in a small area. This is because the TS total station and CS Field Controller are linked using unique numbers. Previously, link numbers (radio channels) were used which could lead to problems when different users used the same link numbers. The new radio handle can be selected to be used within the CS Connection Wiz-ard on the TS total station as today. If the radio handle is attached to the total station then it will be automatically detected.

ASCII Input and TPS auto logged points

The “ASCII Input Interface” was previously only supported with GPS auto logged points. It is now also supported with TPS auto logged points. This is ideal for use where a prism is mounted on a boat on a small lake and the total station is positioned on the side of the lake, locked onto the prism on the boat. Also on the boat is the CS Field Controller to which is connected a depth sounder. As the boat moves around the lake storing, the depth sound reading measurements are taken and passed to the CS Field Controller. These meas-urements are stored as an annotation to the stored auto logged TPS points.

There is no position type available with an accuracy between 10cm and 30cm – which could be a “usable accuracy” for certain GNSS applications – for example, forestry or seismic work. The new xRTK position type is actually a phase fixed position – but with lower accuracy. The use of xRTK basically provide more positions of a higher accuracy in more difficult conditions – such as under tree canopies.

Note, xRTK is not available with the GS08 GNSS sensor – it is only available with the GS25, GS15, GS12 and GS10 GNSS sensors.

GS08 and GS12 as RTK base

It is now possible to use the Leica Viva GS08 and GS12 GNSS Sensors as RTK base stations. This functionality is available with the following licence keys

- 792349 CS/GS08, RTK Reference station option. This allows a GS08 Sensor to transmit RTK data. Remember that a GS08 can only be used with a CS10 and SmartWorx Viva LT.

- 792350 CS/GS12, RTK Reference station option, allows a GS12 Sensor to transmit RTK data.

The serial number of the CS Field Controller must be supplied when ordering these licenses. Once these licences are loaded to the CS Field Controller then the Go to base menu option can be chosen from the Go to Work! menu and the GS08 or GS12 Sensor can be configured as an RTK base. The setup for using a GS08 or GS12 Sensor as an RTK base is as shown below.

Note the following

- An external battery must be used to power the GS08 or GS12 - It is only possible to connect to the GS08 or GS12 Sensor using a Blue-

tooth connection. A cable connection is not possible - The CS Field Controller is only used to configure the GS08 or GS12

Sensor as an RTK base. Once configured and transmitting RTK correc-tions the CS Field Controller no longer needs to remain at the base

- It is only possible to transmit RTCM v3 corrections from the GS08 or GS12 Sensor

- It is possible to use radio and GSM/GPRS/UMTS devices at the base station. Normally the devices will be in a GFU housing

- When using a GSM/GPRS/UMTS device then only a “direct dial-up” connection from the rover to the base is possible. It is not possible to connect the GS08 or GS12 to the Internet when being used as an RTK

base - It is possible to use “external” radios such as Satel or Pac Crest high

power radios. If using the Satel radio then the 636805 GEV114 cable is required in addition to the GEV205 cable – if using the Pac Crest then contact your local Pac Crest dealer

- It is not possible to log raw data when using a GS08 or GS12 as a base Sensor

The GS08 or GS12 Sensor must be loaded with the following firmware file – ME4_6110.fw. This file can be obtained from myWorld or the SmartWorx Viva v4.00 DVD. The firmware must be loaded using the CS Field Controller. Important: The GFU28 module (which contains the Telit 3.5G module) cannot be used at the GS08/GS12 base station. The GFU24 module (which contains the Siemens MC75 module) must be used.

Support of the CGR radio caps

The CS CGR10 and CGR15 “radio caps” for the CS10 and CS15 CS Field Con-trollers are now supported within SmartWorx Viva. These caps attach to the field controllers and can be used to receive RTK correc-tions when working as a rover. The new radio caps can be used with the following Leica GS sensors - GS08, GS10, GS12, GS15 and GS25. They cannot be used with the GS05 and GS06 sensors. The article numbers are as follows

- 789635 CGR15 radio for CS15 Field Controllers - 789634 CGR10 radio for CS10 Field Controllers

In addition, the following antenna is needed

- 790505 GAT21 CGR radio antenna The radio inside the “radio caps” is a receive only radio modem. It is therefore not possible to use the new radio caps as an RTK base

Support of the Viva GS25 GNSS Sensor

The new Leica GS25 Viva GNSS Receiver is now supported within SmartWorx Viva.

The Leica GS25 provides the maximum flexibility and extreme reliability for the most demanding applications. The integrated WebServer, the onboard display and user interface and Smart-

Auto Select the RTK Format during the RTK Rover Wizard

When using the RTK rover wizard, then the RTK format which should be used is now automatically suggested if using an NTRIP connection.

Current GNSS Posi-tion with My Survey Screen

It is now possible to configure to show the current position coordinates within My Survey Screens. This was always possible when using total station sensors, it is now possible when using GNSS sensors. To configure this, access the My Survey Screen Settings panel (4,1,3 from main menu), ensure to be in the GPS page tab and press F2(Config..)

Now choose the Easting, Northing and Elevation options (and/or alternatively use the WGS84 latitude, WGS84 longitude and WGS84 ellipsoid ht options). Now within apps, the current position will be displayed.

Manual selection of GSM network pro-vider

It is now possible to select the GSM network provider to be used within Smart-Worx Viva if a Telit UMTS device is used. This allows a certain GSM network to be fixed to be used. The automatic selec-tion of the GSM provider, which is the default, is then disabled. To configure this, access the Connection details panel, Advanced tab. Check

the Manually select cellphone network check box. The F4 (Search) can then be used to search for and choose a specific network provider.

Normally this setting is only remembered until SmartWorx Viva is exited. In order to retain this setting even after exiting SmartWorx Viva, the initialisation AT commands have to be changed for the used device. Access the Edit Device panel by editing the interface where the device is being used. Then press (F5) Devce.. button and in the Devices panel highlight the device being used and press F3( Edit..). Then press F4 (AT Msg) to access the AT Command Lines panel. The “AT+COPS=0^M” command has to be deleted on the GSM/CSD tab from Initialisation 1 string.

Remember the column widths can be changed by dragging the columns. Also when editing a point it is now possible to edit the previous or next point in the list using the F3(Prev) and F4(Next) keys.

This also applies to the viewing of images – the F3(Prev) and F4(Next) keys allow to quickly move to the next image to be viewed.

Numerical sorting of points

Points within jobs created in SmartWorx Viva v4.00 are now stored in a true nu-merical order (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,12…20,21 etc). Previously points were stored in an “alphanumerical” order (1,10,2,20,3,4,5 etc) If the job is passed to a CS Field Controller or TS total station operating on an earlier SmartWorx Viva version then the numeric sort order will revert to the al-phanumerical order.

Prompt the user be-fore storing point to enter information

It is now possible for the surveyor to be prompted for certain survey information before a point is stored. This may be useful for some surveyors who are used to this in other survey soft-wares. This can be configured in the Prompt Before Storing panel.

Remember the “Use with System1200” setting when creat-ing a new job

The setting to use a job with System1200 is now remembered for subsequently created jobs.

This setting stores jobs to the DBX folder of the CF card directly (instead of stor-ing the job to a sub-folder in the DBX).

Displaying of Angle Right

It is now possible to choose to display Angle Right values throughout the soft-ware. The angle right value is the horizontal angle turned to the right from the backsight point. The backsight point is always assumed to have a “bearing” of 0 degrees from the total station.

Displaying of Inter-net connection even when connected to the Internet using WLAN

If the CS or TS is instrument is connected to the Internet using a connection which was not configured with SmartWorx Viva (such as using WLAN, or a direct connection to a PC which is connected to the Internet) then the Internet icon now shows that the CS is connected to the Internet.

The export of DXF data has been improved by extending the information pro-vided within the Labels page tab of its Configuration panel.

The layer name column of the Labels table provides additional information about what will be exported:

• If the label is configured to not be exported then ----- is displayed • If the label is configured to be exported to a user-defined layer then this

layer name is displayed • If the label is configured to be exported to the same layer as the point

symbol then <Same layer as point> is displayed • If the label is configured to be exported to a block with the point symbol

then < Block with point> is displayed A new label type, Attribute, has been added. This label allows attribute informa-tion stored with a point to be exported. Values of all attributes used for a point will be exported as one label with each separate attribute separated by a comma and space (i.e. Attrib1, Attrib2, Attrib3, etc). Included in the configuration of this label is the check box Export attribute names, ticking this box will cause the attribute names to be exported along side the attribute values. Each attribute name will be exported in front of its attribute value, with the names and values separated with a colon (:) and a space.

Additionally, when editing how an individual label type is to be exported there are new options:

• Export to: Block with point, this is available for all label types, when configured it will export the label to the DXF file and place it in a “block” with the point symbol and all other labels also set to Block with point. This option can be useful when there are points close together and la-bels are required for each point, in the past it would have been difficult to identify which label belonged to which point symbol, now the point and its labels can be blocked together to aid identification.

• The check box Export code descriptions, this is only available for the

label Point Code, ticking this box will cause the code description to be exported along side any point codes which are exported. The code de-scription will be displayed after the code and be separated from it with a space. This option can be useful if short abbreviated code names are used with code descriptions being used to really identify different codes.

Extensions to xml export

The export of LandXML data has been extended by introducing a Hexagon XML schema extension.

Now, the standard LandXML file format is written plus HeXML data blocks that contains more information relating to:

• Coordinate Systems • Points • Survey • Plan features • Parcels • Alignments

Each HeXML datablock is referenced to the corresponding block in the LandXML file. Software packages that support the LandXML standard will still be able to read the exported files – plus getting more information using the published HeXML schema. To obtain full details about the Hexml schema, please contact your local Leica Geosystems representative.

Auto detect slope type It is now possible for the Road app to automatically detect if a cut or fill slope is being staked out. If it is wanted to use this automatic slope detection then in the Define check both the Use cut and the Use fill check boxes and enter the appropriate slope ratio.

To define from which side of the selected hinge line to work, select the appropri-ate setting in the Slope location list box. If it is wanted to work as before and only stakeout a cut slope, or only stakeout a fill slope then check only the relevant check box. COGO Road The new COGO Road functionality can be accessed from the Tools menu.

The Alignment info option allows one or more points to be selected from any job and calculates the respective alignment information such as chainage, offset and height difference values relative to the selected line. Points can be selected from a list or graphically from the map. The results for the

selected points can be seen in a list or viewed for each point individually. The information which is shown is the same as configured for the Info page within the Road app. This tool could be useful for example, to calculate the location of where the last point was previously staked, or if the design is changed the delta values of exist-ing points could be recalculated relative to the new design. Additional Height Offset Type There is now an additional method to offset the position of the hinge line. Choose the option Relative to surf grade within the Ht offset type list box in the Define Manual Slope Task panel.

Choosing this option will retain working on the same surface grade as the original design – but with the grade being offset. For example this could be used to widen a road crown.

Stake average tangent direction This new functionality allows the “averaged tangent direction” around a corner to be staked. Imagine an alignment is being staked and the alignment contains a “corner”.

When working with offsets in the following methods: line, local line, manual slope and local manual slope and they have also checked the Work with non per-pendicular offsets, then they can now stake the average tangent direction when the following message box appears. As the chainage is incremented using the F4(Ch-) or F5(Ch+) then when the line changes direction (at the tangent point) then as before, the user is asked to stake the tangent point (at the position shown by the peg in the diagram above).

If F6(Yes) is pressed, then the user is then asked to choose between staking the offset relative to the previous line, the next line, or (new within SmartWorx Viva v4.00) the average.

When located at the tangent point the average is calculated based on the previ-ous line and next line direction. The stake distance from the TP is the offset value defined. Extend lines It is now possible to continue working along any line in a job where the design line has actually ended. Previously, it was only possible to continue working along the extended centreline. Now any selected line is simply extended as a straight based on the end/start direction of the line. Once measuring outside of the line a message box will appear. Within the mes-sage it is possible to choose to extend the line in one of the following ways - horizontally only - vertically only - horizontally and vertically - not at all Square slope distance information The “square slope distance” is additional information which can be configured to be displayed and/or exported within the report sheet.

Chainage calculation method The new variable Chainage calculation method is available in the Format Man-ager of LGO. This allows the user to see in a report if the chainage was calcu-lated directly or indirectly to the chainage centerline.

Tunnel app

Scan tunnel profiles much faster When using Scan profile method in Tunnel Check, it is now possible to meas-ure points in a shorter time by setting the Measure mode to Continuous. Setting the Measure mode to Single optimises accuracy (this was previously the only mode for scanning). Changing the Measure mode to Continuous optimises speed.

Alignment Editor app

Import rail alignment from a rail job. Previously it was only possible to import a line from a survey, road or road (GSI) job.

Reduced time to import data The time taken to import alignments to a Road or Rail job has been reduced. Selection of lines to import The new Map page allows selecting one or multiple lines from the original design data for import more efficiently.

OBTAINING AND LOADING THE NEW SOFTWARES, LANGUAGE FILES AND APPS USING MYWORLD As described above, it is strongly recommended to use MyWorld to load the new v4.00 softwares to all CS Field Controllers, GS10/15 Sensors and TS11/15 Total Stations. Once your Controllers, Sensors and Total Stations have been registered, connect the hardware to your PC and follow the on-screen instructions. The latest software versions, languages and Apps will be loaded as required. Note 1) In order to connect CS Field Controllers, GS10/15 Sensors and TS11,15 Total Stations to the PC you need to first install the CS, GS10/15 and TS11/15 drivers. These drivers are available for download at myWorld. Note 2) During the loading of SmartWorx Viva to the CS Field Controllers and TS Total Stations, the touch screens will need to be calibrated. Check the screen of the CS and TS occasionally during the upload process to see when this is needed. Note also that the backlight of the screen will also turn off during the upload, so you may need to tap the screen to make the screen more visible.

Controller or TS11/15 Total Sta-tion

1. Insert the SD or CF card into your PC or card reader and copy the neces-sary files to be uploaded to the instrument to the System directory of the card. This can be done with Windows Explorer or any other suitable PC software.

2. Insert the SD or CF card into the CS Field Controller or TS11/15 Total Station and turn on. Ensure the battery is at least 50% full.

Loading the “main” SmartWorx Viva software file (Viva+WinCE_EN.fw)

1. From the main menu, choose 4 User and then choose menu item 4 Tools & utilities… and then choose 2 Load firmware, Apps. The Load Firm-ware & Apps screen is now visible.

2. In the Object to transfer list box ensure that Firmware is selected and the correct memory device is selected at the From prompt. Ensure the file name Viva+WinCE_EN.fw is visible in the Firmware prompt. If the file name is not visible then check you have correctly copied the firmware file to the System directory of the SD or CF card.

3. Press F1(OK) to continue – a message will appear to remind you the con-troller will turn off and on during the process. Press F6(Yes) to begin the loading process.

4. The loading process will take a few minutes and the controller will turn off and on several times during the process. You will also need to re-calibrate the touch screen during the process.

Loading the SmartWorx Viva language file If required to load additional language files then follow the instructions below.

1. From the main menu, choose 4 User and then choose menu item 4 Tools & utilities… and then choose 2 Load firmware, Apps. The Load Firm-ware & Apps screen is now visible.

2. In the Object to transfer list box ensure that Language is selected and the correct memory device is selected at the From prompt. Ensure a lan-guage file is visible in the Language prompt. If the language file is not visible then check you have correctly copied the file to the System direc-tory of the SD or CF card.

seconds. Once complete, a message will appear asking if it is wished to use this language.

Loading SmartWorx Viva Apps It is now possible to load the SmartWorx Viva Apps

1. From the main menu, choose 4 User and then choose menu item 4 Tools & utilities… and then choose 2 Load firmware, Apps. The Load Firm-ware & Apps screen is now visible.

2. In the Object to transfer list box ensure that Apps is selected and the correct memory device is selected at the From prompt. Ensure an App file is visible in the App prompt. If the app file is not visible then check you have correctly copied the file to the System directory of the SD or CF card.

3. It is highly recommended to tick the Install all Apps check box – this will then load all Apps.

6. You will now be able to use the loaded Apps. How to load the GS10/15 Sensor software to a GS10/15 Sensor

The GS10/15 Sensor software can only be loaded to a GS10/15 Sensor using the GS10/15 web server software. (The CS Field Controller and SmartWorx Viva can-not be used to load the GS10/15 Sensor software to a GS10/15 Sensor and are not needed during the process described below). Copy the files to the SD card

1. Insert the SD card into your PC or card reader and copy the GS_FW+WinCE_EN.fw file to the System directory of the card. This can be done with Windows Explorer or any other suitable PC software.

2. Insert the SD card into the GS10/15 Sensor and only then turn on the sensor. Ensure the battery is at least 50% full.

Connect the GS10/15 Sensor to your PC and start the GS10/15 web server software

1. In order to obtain a connection between your GS10/15 Sensor and PC you must have previously installed the GS10/15 driver. This driver is available for download at myWorld or on any SmartWorx Viva DVD with full instructions how to install the driver.

2. Connect the GS10/15 Sensor to your PC using cable 3. Open your Internet browser 4. Enter the following address: 192.168.254.2 and the web server software

will start as shown below

least 50% full. Loading the software file (ME4_6110.fw)

5. From the main menu, choose 4 User and then choose menu item 4 Tools & utilities… and then choose 2 Load firmware, Apps. The Load Firm-ware & Apps screen is now visible.

6. In the Object to transfer list box ensure that Firmware is selected and the correct memory device is selected at the From prompt. Ensure the file name ME4_6110.fw is visible in the Firmware prompt. If the file name is not visible then check you have correctly copied the firmware file to the System directory of the SD card.
