I hope everyone had a great summer and that everyone has a safe trip back to Leisure Lake. The Park will look different when you return; Kirk, Ray, Joe Carpentier, Dave Boehme, and others have been working hard to get our Park ready for this 2018- 2019 season. The pool deck has been replaced and looks beautiful, the old kitchen has been removed and is being remodeled at the time of writing this ar- ticle. The Clubhouse has new ceiling tile that will just add to the new look in our Clubhouse. The Bocce ball court will be finished for everyone to use and enjoy, the new exercise room will be completed this fall for everyone to start getting back into shape. The shuffle board sheds will be replaced with a new shed which should improve the look around the shuffle board courts. The Park is going through some big changes this summer and everyone should be pleased with the improvements which have been needed for several years. When you return this fall remember to check in at the office so they know that you have returned and pick up your phone directory at that time. Also, remember to bring in your insurance Declaration Page to the office to prove that you have liability insurance coverage. The first Board of Director’s meeting will be Tuesday October 9 at 9:00 a.m., the first Friday Board of Director’s meeting will be October 19th at 2:00 p.m. and the first Shareholder’s Meeting will be Friday November 16th at 2:00 p.m. Remember if you want to know what is happening in the Park come to the Board Meetings, everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend these meetings. See you soon! Bob Sager, President From Your Recreation Association As I write this article, I am not sure whether our Labor Day Luncheon will take place or not. The kitchen is still a “work in progress” and the clubhouse is full of building materials and in need of a good cleaning. We are doing our best to get it finished this month. On a better note, the pool work is com- plete. It is beautiful and those of us that are here, in the park, are enjoying it. The remaining summer plans are com- ing along slowly. Only so much can get done at a time. Manager Kirk and crew are doing their best. We continue to be blessed with frequent rain showers thus giving us a break from the summer heat. So far, most of the bad weather has skipped Leisure Lake. Now, we just need to make it through Septem- ber and October. A few folks have returned to the park for short visits but plan to head back up north for the holidays. The Lunch Bunches are over for the sum- mer. We look forward to resuming them in June, 2019. A huge “thank you” to the organizers and drivers. I hope you enjoy the rest of your time up north and look forward to your return this fall. Jane Conn, President From Your Manager I can’t believe it is September. The sum- mer just flew by. The pool is complete, new deck, painted building and all the Art is back on display. I added some color high- lights to the chairs and chaise loungers. Umbrellas need to be replaced…any color suggestions?????? The deck will still need to be sealed, which will cause a two day closing some time after the rainy season ends. Hopefully there will be no more delays in the project till completion. It has been a wet summer. You may have received a letter from me with a picture of your home. The letter is for purposes of notifying all our “Northern Neighbors” that their home has become overgrown with weeds or landscaping has gotten out of hand. Pictures will be included with this letter so the condition can be seen. This may provide an understanding that you will need to make arrangements to care for your residence next summer. I believe it is important to respect your full time neigh- bors that live here all year that have to live with the poor condition of 100+ homes in Leisure Lake. Lawn care has been an issue this summer with the nearly daily heavy rains. Very frustrating. Bocce Ball court will be complete for this season, a lot of additional work is necessary such as walkways and places for benches, etc. The fence around the pickle ball court has been “beefed” up to prevent damage in high winds. The wind screens still need to be replaced. I will be ordering smaller sections so I can replace torn or worn sec- tions without replacing an entire side. Looking forward to the return of our “Snow Birds” see you soon. Kirk Mason September 3

Storm On July 5, 2018 We had a terrible storm hit Leisure Lake on July 5, 2018. It was a Thursday night. I know because Bill and I were out to dinner. We had to drive home in the worst storm I have ever had to drive in. We came down 17th Street and couldn’t see anything. The rain was coming sideways. It was very treacherous. I am posting some pictures in this newsletter of the damage that was done over on Shady Lane. The pictures were taken by Carol Carpentier. Thank you, Carol, for sharing. Also, her husband Joe is seen in a couple of these pictures helping out neighbors that had a lot of damage done to their home. Thank you, Joe and Carol, for all your help. I think we had what they call a microburst, but it has never been said that is what it was. I just want to thank all the people including Ray that came out to help and especially our manager, Kirk Mason. He was right here and notified the owners of any damage they may have incurred. Thank you Kirk and neighbors. We live in this Park because of all the caring people that live here too. We only lost Bright House which was our TV, Internet and phones. Some of our neighbors were without power for over 6 hours. Thank you all for being there for your neighbors.

Warning (Solicitors) Our Park has a NO Solicitor policy. That includes anybody or anything that people are trying to sell to us. We have had a couple of people in the park within the last month stating that they are from A T & T. They claim that Spec-trum is going to raise their prices and they want to sell you their service. PLEASE don’t give them any information whatsoever!!! Tell them that we don’t allow soliciting in our park and if they don’t leave you will call 911. We would rather you have the Sheriff come in and tell them to leave the park as they are bothering our residents. They are also stating that they have permission from the office to be here. They even say Sandy knows they are here. This is untrue. Just don’t let them in your home and ask them to leave. If they don’t, just close the door and call 911. Be aware that nobody has permission to be in our park to sell you anything. I was told this by a Board Member and have not experienced them personally, but a couple of years ago I did have them come to my door. So, just be aware that this is going on. Bonnie

Lot & Unit Inspections From the mobile home and surrounding area inspection com-mittee. “THANK YOU” to everyone who made the effort to keep our park clean and tidy again this year. Your efforts are noted by our new home owners, visitors and your neighbors. We will begin again in November and will be looking at the following areas: 1. Like Bowling ?? The BOWLERS of Leisure Lake would like for you to join us next year. We are not a league – no teams. Just a group that enjoys bowl-ing and fellowship. Most of us don’t have high averages. We often struggle during a game, to break 100. But we laugh and have fun. We bowl on Friday mornings starting 9:30 at the AMF Braden-ton Lanes, 43 St. W. and Cortez. Our 2018 – 2019 bowling starts 11/2/18 and last for 18 weeks ending with a banquet. You don’t need to be present every week and can start whenever your “Southern” arrival schedule permits. So bring your ball and shoes back with you (or use the alley equipment and join us. If you have any questions, please call Miriam or Allen Burkett at 937-776-5394.

Pool Reminder – Towels We just want to remind you that you need to bring two towels to the pool with you. One to cover your chair or lounge and the other for drying. This is done to help us save on cleaning of the furniture. Oils from your skin, sunscreen, etc. get on the chairs and it will eventually ruin them. We work very hard to keep our pool and furniture in good con-dition. We gratefully appreciate you doing this for us. Paul Kuz

For All Leisure Lakers We had the Sheriff come in the park the other night. She told me that they are trained to look on your refrigerator for information regarding a medical problem that you may have, your medical information and a list of medications, allergies and a contact number. This is critical if they have to break in because if you are passed out on the floor and not able to talk, this information would be on your refrigerator with all of the above information. It could be a matter of life or death when the ENT gets there so they will have this information for the doctors, etc. Please it only takes a few minutes to write out your Medical In-formation along with a list of your medications and your allergies and a contact number and tape it to your Refrigerator!!!! Thank you.

Towing Of Vehicles/Trailers We have contacted TNT towing so they can come into our Park and get us posted so they will be able to come in and tow anything that is parked illegally. As you all know, you cannot park on our streets overnight.

As we snowbirds are heading back to our winter homes, there are a few things to start thinking about regarding our pets. Be sure to bring your vaccination paperwork with you. You will need it to license your animal. Remember all cats and dogs must be licensed in Manatee County. Did you know? It is the law in Manatee County to pay an annual tax on your pets. Failure to license your dog or cat may result in a civil fine up to $200.00 for the first offense. You may file online @ license a pet which is the Manatee County website or you can file through your vet. It is requested on our LLV Pet Application form and LLV does require a copy of the tag number paperwork. You are only allowed inside of 7 days to file once the animal is living within Manatee County. For further info, reference Florida Statute 830.30. Rabies Vaccination and Manatee County License Certificate and License Tag are Required. Rabies vaccinations are required by Florida State Statute and by Manatee County Ordinance. The rabies vaccination is the best defense in order to control rabies. Your veterinarian will provide you with a License Certificate and Manatee County License Tag. (The Manatee County License Tag is the only recognized tag in Manatee County and is required by Manatee County Ordinance). The Ordinance also requires your pet wear the Manatee County License Tag.

Ladies ShuffleATTENTION ALL LADIES!

Ladies Shuffle is Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. We haven’t been able to play much in June, July or Au-gust due to the heat and humidity. Hopefully, the heat and humidity will be down somewhat so we

can get back to playing. This is open to all ladies and you don’t have to have any expe-rience. We can teach you. It is very enjoyable. Looking forward to seeing you at the shuffleboard courts! Rain, high heat and humidity and temperature under 65 degrees cancels this event. Karen Elliott
