CHAPTER 2 Hardware
This chapter describes the hardware included in the Lenel Access Hardware Demo System. For wiring interconnections, refer to Wiring Diagram on page 41.
Intelligent System Controller (ISC) LNL-2220The LNL-2220 Intelligent System Controller (IDRC) by Lenel provides a single board solution for interfacing one or two doors with the OnGuard software. In addition, other I/O and reader interface modules can be added on the LNL-2220's downstream port to expand its capabilities. The LNL-2220 revolutionizes access control system architecture by allowing Ethernet connection directly from an entry location to the OnGuard server, while still providing the security, functionality, and modularity of Lenel’s proven access series hardware platform. The LNL-2220 is scalable for any access control application, from the most basic to the most sophisticated. In the event of communication loss, the LNL-2220 allows nearly all local functionality to continue unimpaired until the server connection is restored.
Utilizing its native Ethernet communications and an advanced 32-bit processor, the LNL-2220 can communicate upstream to the host computer through its Ethernet port (with a throughput up to eight times greater than the fastest serial connections) or at up to 115.2Kbps using RS-232 communication directly or through an external dial-up modem. The LNL-2220 can store up to 250,000 cardholders in non-volatile flash memory, and supports selective download for larger cardholder databases. The downstream RS-485 two-wire port can be used to connect up to 32 devices (maximum 64 doors).
Two on-board reader ports support Data1/Data0, Clock/Data, Bioscrypt RS-485 readers and the bidirectional RS-485 Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP) communications. Each LNL-2220 supports up to eight different card formats. The LNL-2220 includes eight inputs that support normally open, normally closed, supervised and unsupervised circuits. In addition, four output relays support fail-safe or fail-secure operation.

Single Reader Interface Module LNL-1300 Series 2UTC Fire & Security Americas Corporation, Inc. offers a Single Reader Interface (SRI) module for access control solutions. Access control card readers, keypads, or readers with keypads that use standard Wiegand Data1/Data0 or Clock/Data communication are supported, as are those that support the new bidirectional RS-485 Lenel OnGuard Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP). Lock, unlock, and facility code offline access modes are supported on all readers connected to the SRI. Each DRI supports up to eight different card formats as well as issue codes for both magnetic and Wiegand card formats.
The SRI provides a vital link between the Intelligent System Controller (ISC) and the card reader attached to the interface. As many as 32 SRI modules can be multi-dropped using RS-485 2-wire communication up to 4,000 feet per port away from the ISC. Each SRI module is individually addressed for increased reporting capabilities with OnGuard access control software applications. The SRI includes two inputs that support normally open, normally closed, supervised, and non-supervised circuits. Two output relays support fail-safe or fail-secure operation.
XceedID (LNL-PR10) Proximity Mini-Mullion ReaderThe XceedID LNL-PR10 Proximity Mini-Mullion Reader is a great option for a tight space in a proximity-only access control installation. This cost-effective reader is well suited for both indoor and outdoor installations. Similar to all Ingersoll Rand Readers, the LNL-PR10 operates on a Wiegand interface, is compatible with all industry-leading 125 kHz proximity credentials, and is completely ISO compliant. Its small but attractive design mirrors the styling of the aptiQ Multi-Technology Reader line-up, and is available in a variety of color options.
HID (800-8045-3020) MIFARE Sector ReaderThe HID MIFARE Sector Reader is a flexible, highly secure and stylish contactless smart card reader ideal for customers that require a customizable reader for new or existing installations. The reader is designed for a wide variety of applications from entry-level access control to secure ID management.
The reader’s keypad adds an extra layer of protection for higher security installations.
HID (RWKL550) OSDP LCD iCLASS ReaderUsing 13.56 MHz contactless smart card technology, the HID OSDP LCD iCLASS Reader provides users with new options for supporting multi-factor identity authentication. Combine a contactless card presentation with a personal identification number (PIN) to securely control access to high security areas. Turn the reader into a remotely controlled device, enabling a host to read and write data on an iCLASS card in addition to controlling the LCD to display time, badge holder information, and so on.
Versatile communication interfaces allow any host to connect to and communicate with the reader. Local operation mode (access control) allows the reader to interface with the highly secure iCLASS access control application, sending card data one-way to a host over a Wiegand, RS232 or RS485 (point-to-point) physical link while displaying canned messages to the user (multi-language support configurable). Use remote operation mode (pass-through) to open up two-way communications over

User Presents Invalid Badge to ReaderDoor LED tipped toggle switch will not light up. When presented to the HID OSDP reader, user will see "Access Denied" on the LCD screen.
Valid User Arms the System• Armed LED will illuminate. At this point, a motion, window or door switch under the left wing
will illuminate an Alarm LED.
Note: IN1 (Door) has an entry and exit delay of 10 sec.
• Any user can use the F3 key on the HID OSDP reader to view faulted zones.• Any user with valid access can use the F4 key on the HID OSDP reader to enable extended hold
on Door1.• When the system is armed and an output(s) is activated, the Reset button (IN4) will deactivate all
of the outputs except the Armed output.• By default, upon power up, the system is in an Armed state.
