Lesson 1: Online Money Scams
The next stage of the lesson is to watch the animated �lm. Only push enter / play animation when you feel that the group have answered all the questions and are
ready to move on.
Select Lesson 1 from the DVD menu. The title screen will play. On the white screen read aloud the lesson statement and press
enter on your DVD remote. The warm up page will appear.

Warm UpAsk the class the following questions; for each, invite several answers before moving
on to the next. Each question is also on the DVD screen.
What kind of car do you want when you grow up?
How much money would it cost?
How would it feel to have all that money?
How would you feel if someone stole it all by breaking into your computer?
How would you feel if someone tricked you intogiving it all to them?
Watch the animation on the screen.

Why Online Money Scams?The internet is unfortunately an ideal medium for the perpetration of fraud and con�dence tricks, because it o�ers:

Fraud from a distance, beyond the reach of police!
Little or no way of tracing the criminal!
Hard for victims to weigh up con�dence tricksters!
Easy to appear genuine!
People want to believe that anything is possible on the internet!
Easy to make people believe they can get something for nothing!
