• I can understand the difference between and inverse relation and an inverse function. • I can find the inverse of a function. • I can use compositions to verify two functions are inverses. • I can apply inverse functions to real world situations.
Lesson 4.7 ~ Inverse Functions OBJECTIVES:
NOTE: It is very important that you understand the difference between an inverse relation and an inverse function! Can you explain the difference?
*** Why is knowing what the graph of a function and its inverse look like important? Is our inverse a function? Or just a relation? How can you tell?
How does knowing the domain and range for the function help us find the domain and range of the inverse? How can you determine whether an inverse of a function will be a function?
Change your instructions! Determine whether the inverse is a function. If so, find the inverse, and state the domain and range of the function and its inverse.
Homework: Page 290: # 5 and # 6 (These are additions to your homework!) # 13-15, 17, 18, 20-24, 27-29, 30-41, 43 CHANGE YOUR INSTRUCTIONS ON # 30-41!!! Determine whether the inverse is a function. If so, find the inverse, and state the domain and range of the function and its inverse.
