Definition
• Percent Proportion -
Example 1
• 22 is what percent of 110?
22 100 ÷ 110 = x
x = 20
Examples
• 34 is what percent of 136?
• 34 100 ÷ 136 = x
• x = 25
Example 2
• What number is 80 % of 500?
80 500 ÷ 100 = x
x = 400
• What number is 70% of 600?
70 600 ÷ 100 = x
x = 420
In 1804-1806, Lewis and Clark Expedition reported that it rained 94 days, which was about 89% of their days in Oregon. How many days did the expedition spend in Oregon?

94 100 ÷ 89 = x
x ≈ 105.6 or 106 days.
From 1999 to 2001, Derek Jeter had 11 hits with the bases loaded. This was about 30% of his at bats with the bases loaded. How many times was he at bat with the bases loaded?

x ≈ 36.7 or 37 at bats
