Lesson Levels SpongeballQuickstart program designed to develop coordination and introduce children to tennis with the emphasis on having FUN!Quickstart Sponge/RedThis transitional Quickstart level is designed for children 5 to 7 years old to reestablish the basic elements and skills they enjoyed in Spongeball, while continuing the fun!Quickstart Red (Level I)Introductory Quickstart generally for children 7 years and older to teach the proper techniques for the ground stroke, volley and serve. Stu-dents will learn basic body movement, rallying, and a continued positive introduction to tennis.Quickstart Red/Orange (Level I/II)This transitional Quickstart class continues to develop strokes with an emphasis on more advanced shots like the overhead. 36’to 60’ court match play and strategy is covered.Quickstart Orange (Level II)This Quickstart section continues to develop proper techniques with an introduction to more match play and strategy (60’ court).Quickstart Orange/Green (Level II/ III)This transitional Quickstart class focuses on the development of more advanced techniques. Players begin to use a larger (60’-78’foot) court while introducing them to skills in areas of both singles and doubles.Quickstart Green (Level III)This Quickstart class continues the focus on the development of more advanced techniques, like point construction. Players begin to use spin, more sophisticated strategy, and position to improve their skills in singles and doubles play.Quickstart Tournament PrepDesigned to introduce tournament play to young players that have not participated in official tournaments. This is the last progression in Quickstart to prepare players for full court match play with yellow balls.Challenger TournamentDesigned for players with some tournament experience with the focus on the physical and mental aspects of tournament play, including pre- and post- match preparations.High School Team PrepThese classes are designed for players interested in playing on the high school tennis team. Drills focus on developing the skills, strategies and tactics used in high school match play.Frosh-Soph Prep: Designed for junior high and freshman playersJunior Varsity Prep: Designed for returning JV playersVarsity Prep: Designed for returning Varsity playersPro’s approval required for participation in all junior group classes. Applications For The Upcoming SessionRegarding SBC Tennis Program Registration, please also be aware of the following:-To be guaranteed a spot in an approved class, all participants MUST register officially either online, in person, by fax, or by mail.-Although SBC Executive members do have priority, we have to proceed on a 'First-Come/First Serve' basis.-Past attendance is unfortunately not a guarantee that a spot will be held in a given class.-Especially In the advanced level sections, class maximums will be enforced to ensure a controllable student/instructor ratio.-Any pro-rated registration must be made within two weeks of the participant's start date, otherwise a spot cannot be guaranteed.Policy For Missed ClassesUnfortunately, due to limited space, make-ups for missed classes are NOT guaranteed in the South Barrington Club Program. If, after you have registered, you do miss a class, there MAY be an option for you. However, any makeup possibilities MUST be arranged and approved by the Jr. Director or Head Tennis Pro.In the case of a medical injury, refunds can only be applied for if accompanied by an official doctor's certification. If you have any questions regarding the policies for missed classes - please call Coach Sean @ (847)381 -2570, x156.Promotions And EvaluationsAll SBC Adult and Junior Players are evaluated regularly, and placed according to level as well as age (where it is appropriate). As an organization, we pride ourselves on making sure our students are fully prepared when they move into a more rigorous program. It is important to note that without SBC approval, a participant may not register for a program that is deemed beyond his/her level.If necessary, a final level designation will ultimately be decided by the SBC Teaching Staff.
