MOVIE – ask WHY would we have watched movie, discuss answers
o Answer of why: connect movie to the idea that explorer though he was alone, planted

way of life already living there
Approx. 5 minutes

seven points
Approx. 30 minutes
Teacher is to be checking in with groups as they work to ensure
students understand, and are staying focused
Closure/Assessment:
Have class come back together as one group and have each group explain to the whole class one
topic. (ex – group 1 will share their two sentence explanation of mercantilism)
Go through all seven ideas and all seven groups
o This allows students to share and compare ideas/understanding and allows teacher to
assess and make sure that everyone understands correctly, redirect students if their
explanations are not correct.
Approx. 15 minutes
Exit Ticket:
students must hand in completed worksheets
this will allow teacher to look over and mark so that if there is confusion with any ideas they can
be address immediately next class
