Learning outcomes : By the end of the lesson the pupils should be able to: 1. write at least ten nouns, adjectives and verbs (each) correctly. 2. write a diamante using the nouns, adjectives and verbs.

Set Induction(3 5 mins)1. Listening to a nursery rhyme.2. Singing along.

1.The teacher plays a familiar nursery rhyme to the pupils.

2. The pupils listen to the poem and sing along.

3. The teacher explains that nursery rhyme is a type of poem. - Multiple intelligences musical/rhythmic - to attract pupils interest towards the lesson through music- Laptop, LCD, speaker.- Integrating music in lesson to create fun learning

Step 1Presentation/Introduction(15 mins)Introduction to synonym diamante poem. i. There are 7 lines in a diamante.ii. The first and last lines have just one word always a noun.iii. The second and sixth lines have two words adjectives describing the noun.iv. The third and fifth lines have three words action verbs related to the noun in line 1.v. The fourth line has four words - nouns related to line 1 and 7. vi. The seventh line is a noun which has similar meaning to the first line.

1. The teacher shows a synonym diamante poem to the class.

2. The teacher explains about the features of the poem.

3. The teacher gives another noun to write a diamante. The word is FLOWER

4. The teacher and pupils brainstorm and come up with needed words to write a diamante.

5. The teacher and pupils come up with a diamante poem together.

- To develop thinking skills.

- To activate pupils previous knowledge

5. Writing the poem

1. The teacher divides the class into a few small groups with 5 to 6 members in each group.

2. The teacher gives a noun to the class to write a diamante. The noun is FATHER

2. The teacher distributes a worksheet with columns to help the pupils to write the needed words (nouns, verbs and adjectives) to produce a diamante.

3. The pupils brainstorm and list down all the needed words to write a diamante.

4. The pupils write a diamante poem. - To activate pupils previous knowledge

To integrate cooperation among pupils.

- To encourage discussions among group members - To develop thinking skills.

Step 3Production/Assessment(15 mins)1. Presentation of the poem.

2. Discussion and peer evaluation1. Each group takes turn to present their poem to the class.

2. The teacher and pupils discuss about each work and pupils are expected to give positive comment about other groups work.

3. The pupils copy the corrected version of the poem in their exercise book.- To encourage discussions among group members
