Lesson plans in duoScaffolding and structuring learning content

IntroductionLesson Plans in duo allow you to include information about learning (e.g. learning outcomes) alongside content. They also provide options to structure some types of materials on a page.

Creating a Lesson Plan1. Go to the content area where you

want to create the Lesson Plan. 2. Hover over Build Content. 3. Click Lesson Plan. 4. Name: enter a Lesson Plan name.

5. Description: general description of the Lesson Plan if required.6. A number of other elements appear by default (Instructional Level, Instructor, etc.). You

have several options:

a. Change the element name: click the name box, edit the text, and click Submitb. Make visible: tick Share with students c. Delete: hover over the element and click the X in the upper right

7. You can also add new elements:

a. Hover over Add Lesson Plan Sectionb. Click the type of element you wish to add

c. The new element will appear at the end of the Lesson Pland. Hover over the left edge of the element to move it

Tip: All of these fields will appear above any normal content that you add.

8. Standard Options: choose as usual.9. Click Save and Continue.

Tip: When you exit the Lesson Plan, it will appear as a link with the Lesson Plan icon (if set).

Adding ContentOption 1: Use the Lesson Plan elements to sequence contentAdvantages: the learning materials appear uniformly with the rest of the Lesson Plan.

Disadvantages: only includes content that can be added via the text editor.

For this option, add a new element for each content item (see Step 7 above). Use the text editor

for attachments, images, Kaltura video (via Mashups), embedded items, YouTube, etc.

Option 2: Create normal duo content to appear after the Lesson Plan elementsAdvantages: you can use the full range of duo content.

Disadvantages: content only appears after the Lesson Plan elements.

For this option:

1. Click Curriculum Resources in the Lesson Plan.2. Add content as normal.

3
