Parents and Guardians of P/1/2W, I would like to say a big thank-you to you all for your positive and enthusiastic attitudes towards home learn-ing. You are all doing a wonderful job! Every child is unique, learns differently and at their own pace. For this reason, everyone`s home learning will look and feel different each day. Continue to encourage curiosity in our world, and foster a love of learning with your child, as this is the key to their success as a lifelong learner. I look forward to seeing lots more wonderful home learning from you all!

—————————————————————— Please enjoy this fantastic fantasy story written by one of our fabulous Year 1 authors Amelia.R.

The Rainbow Kingdom. The unicorn named Rainbow came to the forest to meet up with her friends Cloudy the baby and Lilly the unicorn. They all went to go on a picnic and then played with Cloudy the baby. After they finished playing they came across a Lolly shop and got some lollies. One day Rainbow and her friends went to the playground and played for half an hour and after they had finished playing, they

had gone home to have dinner.

Thanks for your photos of remote learning. Please keep them coming as we really miss experiencing magic moments with students at school.

Dylan and Dominic are learning. We barrack for Western Bulldogs. Attached are pics from yesterday.

Dylan in Year 6 made play dough using the recipe that includes jelly crystals. Judging by his smile he is happy with the result. Dough ready for play!

A helpful prompt chart to support our amazing parents undertaking ‘Remote Learning’ Keep up the great work and remember there’s always ‘yard duty’ or working for a short time on their own. We tend to use a child’s age to work out an appropriate time out period. Keep going, you are doing an amazing job at home.

PRINCIPALS MESSAGE

Principal’s Message 23rd April 2020

Remote Learning IMPRESSIVE is the word that staff are using this week when we talk about this introduction to ‘remote learning’ and parent support. Our families have been wonderful at embracing flexible learning and communicating questions, highlights and feedback with teachers. Our students are very fortunate to have your support, time and commitment at this challenging time in the world. Many families have created learning spaces, set up white boards and logged attendance each day. Our ‘remote learning’ student attendance is terrific and we are so proud of you all. Laptops and Internet We have distributed 12 laptops to older students and we are still trying to source mobile Wi-Fi for families without internet. Please email me if you require a laptop to support ‘remote learning’. We have not yet received any laptops from the Victoria Government as promised. We have been advised that they will be provided to Bush Fire victims and VCE students as the first priority. We are working to distribute our school laptops and purchase new laptops to support students. School Supervision Students of ESSENTIAL WORKERS have been attending school. Please remember if you require school based supervision you need to contact the school or email me with details if you have NO alternative available childcare. Future Learning Packs Your class teacher will let you know when the follow up ‘remote learning packs’ will be distributed. For the distribution of the second packs, we are going to trial a drive through, no

contact process. You will be advised of a date and time for this. We will use our carpark as a drive through and teachers will follow up with a phone call or email to support you. At this stage, remote learning will continue until the end of Term 2. It has been very encouraging to see the low number of COVID19 virus in Ballarat to date. Please continue to physically distance, avoid gatherings, wash your hands and stay at home. A healthy school community is vital. Sharing the learning at this historic time Please send photos and videos of your children at home via our Facebook page or via email to your teacher. We miss our students and we are really enjoying seeing their creativity and learning at home. We will post these and include them in our next newsletter. Foodbank Next week we will have apples, oranges, tinned food, cereal and milk to distribute. This will be distributed using our ‘drive through’ car park. We will advise you of the date and time once the Foodbank delivery has arrived. Please use my email if you have any questions, concerns or worries. We do not want you to feel alone at this time. As always, contact your teacher first via their email. The school office is not open at present. [email protected] Take care, thank you for your support and please stay well. From Staff...

Hello from Mrs Lawes and her boys. Cooper and Thunder can't wait until the computer gets turned off at the end of the day and they can go for a walk. I hope you are getting some fresh air when you finish your work too.

After learning time at school I have enjoyed going on bike rides with my family. Annabelle is working on riding her bike without training wheels and Cooper is loving his new seat on his Dads bike. We have explored the swamp and wetlands near our house and identi-fied lots of things on our nature scavenger hunt. Mrs Pearce
