LET THE RUGBY BEGIN - ROUND 1 TERRIGAL VS HORNSBY This Saturday, Terrigal play host to a strong Hornsby line up followed by our Mexicannight with the Mariachi Band, Burritos from Guzman Y Gomez and $6 Coronas in theClubhouse. What a start to the year! Hornsby have prepared well in the off season under the guidance of Shute ShieldCoach, Chip Carroll and the Lions have never been to Terrigal without putting on aspirited match against the Trojans at The Haven. It is Terrigal, however, that allteams will have to watch closely this year after many of our favourite rugby sons havereturned and Murray Cox has recruited well for the 2019 season. Expect a lot this weekend from the Trojans and enjoy your first game of Rugby for theyear on the hill as one of our best forward packs ever runs onto the Haven forTerrigal. There will be four forward Country Representatives in our run on team. Ourbacks have also strengthened with the return of many of our best players and newrecruits that will bear watching. The Trojans have also played good trials againstSingleton and Forest Rugby Clubs and have prepared well in pre season training andat our weekend Rugby Camp. The Trojans will be competitive from the First Round. Hornsby are always one of the favourite clubs to play who have large forwards andlike to throw the ball around. We expect a much more structured Hornsby teamunder their new management, this match will be an arm wrestle that will be a greattest for both teams this weekend. In a new format, the Womens teams will be playing before and after Second Grade. The Womens competition is totally supported by our Rugby Club and this means theTerrigal Womens team play each match immediately before First Grade this year. The ladies have improved in leaps and bounds under Molly Morrison and six of ourgirls have already placed runner up in the State’s 7s Tournament representing theCentral Coast. Actually, expect all our grade matches to be strong this weekend and watch ourTerrigal teams play their matches against Hornsby from a very well prepared TerrigalClub. Afterwards, remember to go back to our Clubhouse for the new format, speeches,boat races and this weekend, our Mexican night with the Mariachi Band, sponsoredby Guzman Y Gomez. It will be a lot of fun as we host the Hornsby Club who arealways up for a great day of rugby. Remember your Mexican outfit!

SEASON LAUNCH AT BREAKERS Last Friday night saw a hugely successful night for our Season Launch at Breakers CountryClub. One of the highlights was the sellout auction of the Women’s jumpers for the 2019 seasonconducted by our celebrity auctioneer, Tim Andrews of L J Hooker, Terrigal. It was great tosee the enthusiasm in the room and the response that our Vice President, Tim Larke andour Coaching Director, Murray Cox received on their announcements for the coming year. Thanks again to Masterfoods, Express Lube & Hoyts for providing our lucky door prizes. Thank you also to Breakers Country Club for providing the awesome venue and to Spark'dEvents for adding the personal touch to the room for us!

AVOCA/TERRIGAL U15s CLUB SIDE Who would have thought, but yes, it’s true. Avoca and Terrigal have joined forces toform a Barbarians side who will play together in the Newcastle competition. Congratulations to both clubs who had the foresight to keep our kids playing rugby ina ground breaking move to join a stronger competition with matches every weekendin the Hunter and on the Coast. The jumper colours are a combined Avoca/Terrigal design and we now have 28players registered for the Barbarian team. The coaching and management is sharedbetween the two clubs and the enthusiasm is fantastic from both our locals and theNewcastle Clubs to make this format work. We wish the combined side a greatseason for 2019. The team will need to travel to Newcastle and The Entrance RedBus Services have got behind this team with support for their away matches. Both the Terrigal and Avoca Clubs will also join forces in fundraising to send acombined U15s club side on our annual trip to Fiji at the end of this season. GreatRugby guys!.

CSTM CUP RETURNS TO TERRIGAL On Saturday 23 March the Trojans visited Singleton Rugby Club to play in our annual trialgame. The Trojans had a great trial game winning back the CSTM Cup from SingletonRugby Club. Thank you to Singleton Junior Rugby for also hosting the U17s trial game. Welook forward to having your club come down our way next season.

TRIPLE BOAT RACE VICTORY The year has started off very well for our regular boat race team of Ethan, Jim and Dateywith a win in a three way boat race between Newcastle Uni, Singleton and the Trojans aftera three way trial day of football. The Trojans enjoyed their first victory of the year, anchoredhome by captain, Tim Date. Good Rugby guys!

Just to show it was no fluke, the boys formed a five manboat race with Ethan, Cav, Jim, Ron and Datey taking onthe strong Forest line up. Datey captained the side toanother strong victory!
