“We can take horse to well but can’t make water drink.”

No sentence can be made without subject and verb. Verb always comes right after subject. There are four forms of verbs. All forms have their own name; name presents their use in sentence.

1st form of verb is called present verb. It is used in every present’s sentence. Verb followed by ‘to’ is 1st form of verb always.

2nd form of verb is called past verb. It is used in every past’s sentence. One 2nd form of verb can only be used in single sentence.

3rd form of verb is called past participle. It is used in past, present and future all situations.

4th form of verb (1st form + ing) is called progressive. It is used in progressive (continuous situation). Here are some words after which we always use 4th form of verb in case verb comes: for, of, after, before, in, on, at and from.

‘Ability’

Whenever we mention someone’s ability and capacity, we use word ‘CAN’.

(Subject + Can + 1st form of Verb + Object)

I can swim. He can understand. She can sing well. They can defeat Raman. My mother can come here to check me.

(Can + Subject + 1st form of verb + Object) Interrogative sentence

Can you run for 10 min.? Can she cook food for you? Can they speak well? Can Vertika sell this house?

(Subject + Can’t + 1st form of Verb + Object) negative sentence

I can’t tell you beforehand. Common man can’t survive with this inflation.

‘Future’Coming time is called future. We use shall/will in future sentences. Although shall is used with I & we according to grammar yet we use ‘Will’ in spoken.

(Subject + Will + 1st form of verb + object)

We will make payment day after tomorrow. She will give me helping hand. I will manage time for class. I will give my best shot.

(Will + Subject + 1st form of verb + Object) Interrogative sentence

Will you make payment? Will you marry me? Will they raise their voice against corruption?

(Subject + won’t + 1st form of Verb + Object) negative sentence

He won’t jump the red right. They won’t come day after tomorrow. She will not pay back her debt. We will not take your advice to consideration.

‘Advise’

We generally give advice to people and in India it is only free. Should, Must and ‘Ought to’ can be used

for giving Advice. Should is used for Normal advice/daily advices.

(Subject + should + 1st form of verb + object)

You should follow his instructions. You should speak in English. He should tap into his conscience. He should keep his promise.

(Should + Subject + 1st form of verb + Object) Interrogative sentence

Should I leave now? Should we try once? Should I deposit all funds in bank? Should I go to help him? Should we rent a room in Delhi? Should I tell him all?

(Subject + shouldn’t + 1st form of Verb + Object) negative sentence

You shouldn’t use abusive language. She shouldn’t wear slut clothes. He shouldn’t molest girls. Teacher shouldn’t cane late comers.

Reading this all won’t be sufficient unless you use this. We would like to tell you two exercise to be done daily for half an hour each. (1.) Read, Speak & Repeat. (2.) Listen, Speak & Repeat.
