2 Tempe Chamber of Commerce 2019-2020 Annual Report

As we celebrate another year with the Tempe Chamber of Commerce and reflect on our journey, I am simply honored, amazed and proud to have served as the Board Chair. Of

course, this year has been uniquely different with the COVID pandemic, economic uncertainty, and social unrest. But even in the face of all these challenges the Tempe Chamber has continued to deliver on its core values of advocacy, visibility, and connection for our business community.

The Tempe Chamber’s influence on the local, state, and national policy is evident in our strategic partnerships with the City of Tempe, EVCCA, Small Business Association, the U.S. Chamber and local non-profit organizations. All of which proved to be vital in providing access to information, legislative processes and capital sources to assist our business community in their

time of need. In dealing with such a fluid situation and economic climate, it’s important we continue to be a resounding voice, advocate and lighthouse within our community. Our strategic partnerships have been an excellent catalyst for the development of innovative programs ranging from workforce development to emergency loan programs.

The most remarkable aspect of serving has been the opportunity to work with so many brilliant individuals within our community. As our previous Board Chair Jenna Rowell described, “the spirit of this community runs deep; it’s a real thing you can feel and build on when you get involved here; and it’s rooted in the culture of living, playing and doing business here.” Those words are even more evident today as we charter into what is considered the new normal.

Thank you to our valued members and business community, Board of Directors, President and CEO Anne Gill, and the Tempe Chamber Staff for your astonishing leadership, collaboration and support through these challenging times. Again, it has been an absolute honor and pleasure to serve as your Board Chair. On this journey I have found great encouragement in our collective resiliency and shared purpose to build a stronger business community and a stronger chamber.
