Tuesday feb 10 2015 Dear ------ How’s your new school? Did you meet new friends? You left at the worst time because we went to Ottawa! We went inside the parliament building, we had to get past the security guards by wearing no metal, and because of the shooting that happened in 2014. After that then we went inside this dome thing with a police guard who told us where to go. Once we got past the security we went on an outstanding tour with our tour guide Vanessa, who showed us the wonderful library of the parliament building. Did you know that there are so much books in the library that if you stack up all the books it will reach all the way to the top of Mount Everest and halfway back down?! Anyway, after the tour we went to the question and answer period in The House of Commons and we saw Jean Augustine and Judy Sgro, Jean Augustine was the first black woman to be elected in parliament and she is Ontario’s first Fairness Commissioner. Also our school was named after her. .Judy Sgro is a Member of Parliament. She worked with Jean Augustine to present a poster to Parliament, on the poster are twelve Canadians of African descent who have made important contributions to Canada.. To be honest I was falling asleep a little bit in the middle of it but can u blame me? I had got up at 4:00AM! After the question and

answer period, everyone went back on the bus and went to the stable to see the horses, The horses were big and black I was a bit scared of the horses. After that it was time to go home to our families. We went on the train and ate dinner. I was sleeping most of the way back, it took 5 or 6 hours to get home. Personally I loved the trip, it was great to see something new and to be in a new place. I'm pretty sure that as soon as everyone got home they all went straight to sleep. But enough about me, how about you? did u meet new friends at your new school? how are your new teachers are they nice? Did you go on any trips cooler than mine?

Sincerely,

Khia
