Dear Parents: We are delighted that your child has chosen Carleton University for the Enrichment MiniCourses Program (EMCP) 2012. On Sunday, May 6, 2012, you are welcome to join us for the EMCP Orientation Day. This is an opportunity for you to meet the instructor and get oriented to Carleton’s campus where your child will be attending for the week. A typical orientation session will last about an hour and includes meeting the instructor and students in the class. We anticipate close to 3000 people attending the orientation and so we scheduled three sessions. For courses 200217 the session is at 1pm; courses 218235 at 2pm; and 236253 at 3pm. We request that you come and attend the scheduled time of your orientation. If you are also interested in a formal guided tour (45 minutes) of the campus before or after your class orientation, please register at http://admissions.carleton.ca/campustours/emcpcampustours for the EMCP specialty tour (only two sessions are offered). We have enclosed the brochure (light green) containing the program, along with the leaflet (Quick Guide to Carleton) which you can review in advance of the orientation. We will be meeting at the TORY QUAD area (please refer to the map on the back of the brochure) for the orientation. Please read carefully these brochures and make sure to note the time of your orientation session and the alternative locations in case of inclement weather . You will also be interested in knowing that five $1,000 scholarships are presented annually to former EMCP students. Welcome! 

 e are delighted  that you have chosen  to attend an Enrichment Mini‐Course at Carleton.   Throughout  its thirty  year  history,  the mini‐course  program  has  given  thousands  of  students  a  chance  to  experience learning in a post‐secondary setting.  As well, this unique event has given us the opportunity to showcase 

Carleton’s academic programs and facilities.   

Start the week at Carleton University by meeting your instructor! On  Sunday May  6,  2011  at  1pm,  2pm,  or  3pm  sessions  we  invite students and parents  to  join us on campus  for  the Enrichment Mini‐Courses  Program  (EMCP)  Orientation  day.  Students  will meet  their instructor outside in the TORY QUAD area and will then be escorted to their classroom  for an orientation  session. Please make note of your respective orientation time; 

 For courses 200 ‐ 217, your orientation session is at 1pm. For courses 218 ‐ 235, your orientation session is at 2pm. For courses 236 ‐ 253, your orientation session is at 3pm.  Please note;  in  case of  inclement weather, we will meet  in  the UniCenter “Galleria”  Discover  Carleton’s  learning  environment! We  are  delighted  to 

introduce  you  to  our  excellent  academic  programs  offered  in  the friendly,  informal atmosphere of  the EMCP.   We want you  to  feel at home with us as part of the Carleton family. 

 During your week at Carleton, you will have a chance to explore 

and enjoy the University and its beautiful surroundings. To make your EMCP week memorable, each  student will  receive a commemorative EMCP 2012 Carleton T‐shirt. Also, on Wednesday at noon there will be a draw for prizes  in the Quad area. These prizes will  include Carleton collectibles  and  souvenirs.  Finally,  a  certificate  will  be  provided  to students to officially close the EMCP 2012 mini‐courses week.

 Scholarships  are  also  presented  annually  to  five  former  EMCP 

students.  Each  student  who  attends  a  mini‐course  at  Carleton  is eligible  to  apply  and  could  qualify  for  a  $1,000  scholarship  upon admission  to  the University  in  their  first  year of  studies; please  visit http://www.carleton.ca/emcp/programs/application.pdf

 NOTE: Parking is free on Sunday ONLY. Parents and students will be expected to pay for parking during the week *Scooters, skateboards & roller blades ARE NOT PERMITTED ON CAMPUS.
