First Greek Hymn for the Resurrection Procession –
We believers hymn and worship the Logos,
without beginning with the Father and the Spirit,
having been born of a virgin for our salvation, for
he appeared in the flesh to ascend the Cross. He
persevered unto death and raised the dead through
his glorious Resurrection
23
Second Greek Hymn for the Resurrection Procession –
When the stone was sealed by the Jews and the
soldiers were guarding Your undefiled Body, You
arose on the third day, O Savior, granting life to
the world. For this reason, the heavenly powers
cried out to You, O Giver of Life, “Glory to Your
Resurrection, O Christ. Glory to Your kingdom.
Glory to Your economy, O You who alone are
the Lover of Mankind.”
The Hymn of the Resurrection –
Christ is risen from the dead: by death he has
trampled over death: and to those who were in the
graves: He granted life.
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the
Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages of
ages. Amen.
The Communion Hymn for the Apostles Fast
Let us praise the Lord, for with
glory He was glorified. He
ascended into the heavens and
sent to us the Paraclete, Spirit of
truth, (the Comforter). Amen.
Alleluia.
He made the two into one, that is
the heaven and the earth. He
ascended… …
…
O Come, all you peoples, let us
worship Jesus Christ.
He ascended…
… …
24
This is God our Savior, and the
Lord of all flesh.
He ascended… … …
Three in unity and unity of
three: the Father and the Son and
the Holy Spirit, Spirit of truth,
the Comforter. Amen. Alleluia.
The Glorification Hymn for the Father –
The Lord is with you.
Holy is the Father the king who observes our
humility, the essence of glory; and the Holy Spirit.
Righteous is the Father. Our supporter in all
our weaknesses, for the sake of the heavenly life;
and the Holy Spirt.
Praise belongs to the Father. The treasure of
our humility, Jesus the heavenly; and the Holy
Spirit.
The Lord is the Father. He who speaks in
Truth, who took the form of our humility; and the
Holy Spirit.
Honored is the Father. He who rejoices in our
humility, the true, the heavenly; and the Holy
Spirit.
The shepherd is the Father. He who speaks for
the sake of our tribulations, the heavenly Cross; in
the Holy Spirit.
Honored is the Father. He who shines over our
tribulations with the heavenly light; and the Holy
Spirit.
Hail to He who is of the Father, who rejoices
in our humility, the heavenly truth indeed; and the
Holy Spirit.

Annual Hymns &
Responses II
Advanced Annual Liturgical Hymns
Hail to Mary the Queen –
Hail to Mary the queen, the unbarren vine that
no farmer toiled. In her is found the Cluster of
Life.
The Son of God is truly incarnate from the
Virgin. She bore Him; He saved us and forgave us
our sins.
You found grace, O Bride. Many spoke of
your honor, for the Logos of the Father came and
was incarnate of you.
What woman on earth became mother of God
but you? For while you are a woman of the earth,
you became the mother of the Creator.
Many women received honor and gained the
kingdom, but they did not reach your honor, O
you, the fair among women.
You are the high tower in which the treasure
was found, which is Immanuel, who came and
dwelt in your womb
Let us honor the virginity of the bride, who is
without malice, pure, all-holy – the Theotokos
Mary.
You are exalted more than heaven; you are
honored more than earth and all creation therein,
for you became the mother of the Creator.
27
Rejoice O Mary
Rejoice, O Mary, handmaiden and mother, for
the angels praise Him, who is in your arms,
and the cherubim worthily worship Him; the
seraphim too, without ceasing.
We have no boldness before our Lord Jesus
Christ apart from your prayers and intercessions,
O our Lady, the Lady of us all, the Theotokos.
We ask You, O Son, of God, to keep the life of
our patriarch, Abba Shenouda, the high priest.
Confirm him upon his throne.
And his partner in the liturgy, our holy
righteous father, Abba Youssef the bishop.
Confirm him upon his throne.
That we may praise You with the cherubim
and the seraphim, proclaiming and saying:
Holy, holy, holy, O Lord, the Pantocrator,
heaven and earth are full of Your glory and Your
honor.
Truly, you are the pure bridal chamber which
belongs to Jesus the bridegroom, according to the
voice of the prophets.
Intercede on our behalf, O lady of us all, the
Theotokos, Mary, the mother of our Savior, that
he may forgive us our sin.
28
The Gregorian Hymn of the Prayer of Reconciliation
Through the intercessions of the Theotokos,
Saint Mary, O Lord, grant us the forgiveness of
our sins.
We worship You, O Christ, with Your good
Father and the Holy Spirit, for You have (come)
and saved us.
A mercy of peace, a sacrifice of praise.
The Gregorian Hymn of the Commemoration – Loose, Remit
The Hymn of Blessing –
The Communion Hymn: The Bread of Life
Loose, remit, and forgive us, O God, our
iniquities which we have committed willingly and
which we have committed unwillingly, which we
have committed knowingly, and which we have
committed unknowingly; the hidden and the
manifest, O Lord, remit for us.
Blessed are You indeed, with Your good
Father and the Holy Spirit, for You have come
and saved us.
The Bread of Life, which came down for us
from heaven, has given life to the world.
And you too, O Mary, have borne in your
womb the rational Manna, which came from the
Father
29
You have brought Him forth without blemish,
He gave us His Body and His precious Blood, and
we live forever.
Around You stand the cherubim and the
seraphim, and they cannot look at You.
We behold You upon the altar, and we partake
of Your Body and Your precious Blood.
Therefore we exalt you befittingly, with
prophetic hymnology.
For they spoke of you with great honor, O
Holy City of the great King.
We entreat and pray that we may win mercy,
through your intercessions with the Lover of
Mankind.
Through the intercession of the Theotokos,
Saint Mary, O Lord, grant us the forgiveness of
our sins.
Through the intercessions of the Archangels
Michael and Gabriel, O Lord, grant us the
forgiveness of our sins

+ Cast away from our minds the slumber of
sleep.
Grant us sobriety, O Lord, that we may

prayer.
+ And ascribe unto You the befitting
glorification, and win the forgiveness of our

Mankind.
Behold bless the Lord, O you servants of
the Lord: Glory be to You, O Lover of

Give me understanding according to Your
word: Glory be to You, O Lover of Mankind.

Deliver me according to Your word: Glory be
to You, O Lover of Mankind.
My lips shall utter praise, for You teach me
Your statutes: Glory be to You, O Lover of
Mankind.
+ My tongue shall speak of Your words, for
all Your commandments are righteousness:
Glory be to You, O Lover of Mankind.
Let Your hand become my help, for I have
chosen Your precepts: Glory be to You, O
Lover of Mankind.
+ I longed for Your salvation, O Lord, and
Your law is my delight: Glory be to You, O
Lover of Mankind.
Let my soul live, and it shall praise You,
and let Your judgments help me: Glory be to
You, O Lover of Mankind.
+ I have gone astray like a lost sheep: seek
Your servant, for I do not forget Your
commandments: Glory be to You, O Lover of
Mankind.
Glory be to the Father and the Son, and the
Holy Spirit: Glory be to You, O Lover of
Mankind.

Amen. Alleluia. Lord have mercy. Lord
have mercy. Lord have mercy.
Then Moses and the children of Israel sang
this song to the Lord, and spoke saying, “Let
us sing to the Lord for He has triumphed
glorioiusly.”
+ The horse and its rider, He has thrown
into the sea. The Lord is my Strenght and
Song, and He has become my Salvation.
35
He is my God and I will glorify Him, my
father’s God and I will exalt Him.
+ The Lord is a Man of war, the Lord is
His name. Pharaoh’s chariots and his army He
has cast into the sea.
His chosen captains also drowned in the
Red Sea.
+ The depths have covered them; they sank
to the bottom like a stone.
Your right hand, O Lord, has become
glorious in power. Your right hand, O Lord,
has dashed the enemy in pieces.
+ And in the greatness of Your excellence,
You have overthrown those who rose against
You. You sent forth Your wrath, it consumed
them like stubble.
And with the blast of Your nostrils the
waters were gathered together, the flood stood
upright like a heap, and the depths congealed
in the heart of the sea.
+ The enemy said, “I will pursue, I will
overtake, I will divide the spoil, my desire
shall be satisfied on them, I will draw my
sword, and my hand shall destroy them.”
You blew with Your wind, the sea covered
them, they sank like lead in the mighty waters.
+ Who is like You, O Lord, among the
gods? Who is like You, glorified in His saints,
amazing in glory, performing wonders?
You stretched out Your right hand, the
earth swallowed them. You, in Your mercy,
have led forth the people who You have
redeemed. You have guided them, in Your
strength, to Your holy habitation.
36
+ The people will hear and be afraid;
sorrow will take hold of the inhabitants of
Palestine.
Then the chiefs of Edom will be dismayed,
the mighty men of Moab, trembling, will take
hold of them.
+ All the inhabitants of Canaan will melt
away; fear and dread will fall on them.
By the greatness of Your arm, they will be
as still as a stone, till Your people pass over, O
Lord, till Your people pass over who You have
purchased.
+ You will bring them in, and plant them in
the mountain of Your inheritance, in the place,
O Lord, which You have made for Your own
dwelling.
Your sanctuary, O Lord, which Your hands
have established, the Lord shall reign forever
and ever.
+ For the horses of Pharaoh went with his
chariots and his horsemen into the sea.
And the Lord brought back the waters of
the sea on them, but the children of Israel went
on dry land in the midst of the sea.
+ Then Miriam the prophetess, the sister of
Aaron, took the timbrel in her hand, and all the
women went out after her with timbrels and
with praises.
And Miriam answered them saying, “Let us
sing to the Lord for He has triumphed
gloriously.”
+ “The horse and its rider He has thrown
into the sea. Let us sing to the Lord for He has
trumphed gloriously.”
