Glimpses of Pre primary

The new session started with a different notefor all of us this year due to Covid 19. In order to ensure that

learning remains as unaffected as possible for our learners at St. Xavier’s, we have launched a lot of

innovative strategies for all classes. Keeping the welfare of students in mind, we have started online teaching

to ensure that children engaged productively and spend their time meaningfully during this testing time. Our

teachers have been working very hard to ensure best learning experience for all our children.

Tips for the

parents

Remember that

discipline is not the

punishment.

Enforcing limits is

really about teaching

kids how to behave in

the world and helping

them to become

competent, caring

and in control.

Being mother of two hyperactive

Xaverians, life is always at the edge.

This Pandemic has changed

everyone’s life in a major way. I had

to do away with the maid and do all

the daily chores myself with support

of my family members each can do.

Thishas helped all of us to

appreciate the dignity of labour and

do away with physical and mental

stiffness(lol!). Although, in pre-covid

era, we used to have junk food in

few occasions. Now, it has been

stopped absolutely and children

love homemade fast- food like

Appe, Handwo (Gujarati snack),

wheat and carrot cakes and lots of

fruit and vegetables. In last 8 years,

my role changed from a manager in

the corporate world to a

homemaker taking care of two kids.

Now I get time to do some “catching

up”’ which I couldn’t do in these last

8 years. During this Pandemic, I

developed a liking for binge

watching web series which are very

crisp and less melodramatic than

the typical TV serials. Study from

home has made everyone more

tech savvy. I feel more comfortable

allowing my children to use laptop

and android device more than ever

before. I enjoy family spending

quality time staying indoor

together. I also unwind with some

‘Kapalbhati’ and Pranayam. At

times, a crisis is too good an

opportunity to be missed.

Krishna Janmashtami

The festival of Janmashtami was celebrated with great zeal and pomp

by our tiny tots this year. Krishna Janmashtami is also known as

Krishnashtami, SaatamAatham, Gokulashtami, AshtamiRohini,

ShrikrishnaJayanti. Celebrated on the eighth day of the month of

Savana, Janmashtami marks the birth of Lord Krishna, an avatar of

Lord Vishnu. Children looked adorable dressed as Krishna, Radha.

There were so many fun filled activities like flute making, dance

videos by kids and story was told by teacher to inculcate the values

and respect for our religion.

Did you know?

Parents speak

Our experience of online classes has been very good. We can see the hard work put in by the teachers and that's highly appreciated. The efforts put in to ensure that students stay involved throughout the sessions, specially the younger ones in kindergarten, speaks for itself. If it's not better than normal classroom session, then it's definitely very close to be as good as one.

The pandemic has taught humankind quite a few lessons, and of course not only in terms of change in education methods. And yes, it has definitely helped all of us to train our kids better on hygiene habits. Keeping kids indoor is a challenge and has reduced their physical activities also. That's one big side effect of the whole pandemic situation. To cope up, we have to adapt measures like doing little yoga sessions at home with Rudra and cycling in floor lobby. Wish these times will be over very soon and life turns normal.

N is for Noodle Necklace

Making Noodle Necklace is a fun activity to introduce

young children to learn about the letter N. Children of

Nursery Daisy enjoyed thoroughly.

Children had different types of pasta which have holes to

be threaded. It provided an opportunity to talk about the

letter and real life experience. Children made this for

their Mom's. They gifted it as a token of love.

Independence Day

We celebrated the 74th Independence Day with great

vigour to honour the sacrifices made by great men for the

country and encourage patriotic feeling among the

Rainy day celebration

Rainy Day is always a fun time for the kids if it is celebrated

in the school. Moreover it makes the school environment

light and mesmerizing for these tiny tots.

To celebrate the first showers of Monsoon, the pre-primary

students came in their raincoats & umbrellas in virtual

class. The students of KG class made their boats and float

in the tub.

Teachers made them aware of the things found in this

season like corn, frog etc.

The kids really had a festivity time with their friends and

teachers. This Rainy Day celebration was full of fun & frolic.

Event Report Float and Sink experiment

Here’s another fun and easy science experiment– Sink or

Float? It’s perfect for the beginning of the preschool year

because it teaches important, familiar vocabulary (many

students know the word float from swimming) and requires

very minimal preparation. That’s my kind of science

experiment! We began by talking about the vocabulary (sink

and float). The students made predictions. Floating and

sinking is a fun science concept for children to explore.

Students conducted the experiment with leaf, nail, rubber ,

sharpener and some fruits . They saw and observed that

heavy objects sink and light objects float.

Rakshabandhan is a special occasion to celebrate the

bond between brothers and sisters symbolized by the

tying of sacred thread, ‘Rakhi’ around the wrist of

brothers. The children joined in this celebration,

which was aimed at strengthening the bond of love

and to instill the virtues of love and harmony among

the growing Xaverians.

As a parent, I want to do everything I can to protect

our child and family. The coronavirus disease

(COVID-19) pandemic has brought with it new

As the Covid-19 driven Pandemic continues, we

have adapted ourselves to the new normal which

includes kid's online classes, work from home,

online purchases, social distancing, increased

hygiene standards, to name a few.

Now that we are confined to our homes and society

has ground to a halt, we can see what is important

and what isn’t. What makes life worthwhile and

what doesn’t.

Now every house is a school and every parent is a

teacher. Thanks to technology due to which

teachers are able to connect with students and

parents for uninterrupted education. Every change

brings with it some challenges. So did the online

classes, however, it has evolved well as a reliable

fall back plan for children's education. If we follow

the social distancing norms and maintain personal

hygiene, we will have good results sooner. I hope

everyone stays at home and we are able to send

the virus packing.

Now thanks to you

We are healthier

We are better professional

We are happy family

We understand our material needs

And most importantly we are back to our life

You are still there and vaccine awaited

But we wait for your exit but will be thankful for teaching

us importance of life and what is meaningful to life.
