Lexel is Better than SiliconeAll purpose: Lexel is a co-polymer rubber-based sealant. Ithas excellent adhesion to a wide variety of materials, evenafter seven days of water immersion. Surface PreparationSurfaces should be structurally sound and free of dirt, oil,release agents or other residue. Old latex or oil-based caulkcan be softened for scraping with heat gun. Surfaces belowfreezing should be free of frost. Large beads applied in warmweather (above 95˚F) may exhibit slight bubbling. This is dueto the solvents trying to escape too quickly through the surfaceof the skin.

ApplicationMake sure the room is well venti-lated if using Lexel indoors. Cutthe nozzle at a 45˚ angle. Puncturethe inner seal with a 4” nail. Beforecaulking, squeeze out a little on apiece of paper to get the feel of theflow. When applying, hold thecaulk gun so that the 45˚ angle cutin the spout is parallel to the sur-face to be caulked. This is critical. Ifthe gun angle is too high, the nozzleactually scrapes caulk out of thejoint as it is supplied and flares itout to the side. If the angle is too low, you get a lumpy beadthat skips areas. Pull the cartridge along the joint rather thanpush it. (See illustration). If you get some irregularity in thebead, dip your finger into clean, soapy water. Let your fingerfloat lightly over the lumps to smooth the bead out.

Easy Application!

Applies and Works in any TemperatureLexel can be applied in a wide variety of temperatures from0˚F to 120˚F. And it maintains its seal in an even wider tem-perature range from -30˚F to 200˚F. To ease gunning in coldweather, keep Lexel warm until use. (Note: application to hotsurfaces may cause bubbling.)

Storing LexelWhen you’re finished with your caulking job,wrap Saran Wrap® or Reynold’s Wrap® aroundthe entire nozzle. (Note: Some brands of plasticwrap are made of polyethylene. These plasticwraps will not keep Lexel from curing in thenozzle. Saran® works best.)

Clean-up & Cure Time - Lexel is solventbased and cures by solvent evaporationLexel can be cleaned from tools and handsusing orange-based cleaners, mineral spirits orpaint thinner. Lexel develops a dirt resistiveskin just minutes after application, tack-free in30 minutes and cures firm in 2-4 days.Complete cure in 1-2 weeks. Actual curedepends on bead size and temperature.

Painting LexelAllow Lexel to cure 24-48 hours before painting with latexpaints. Allow double cure time in temperatures less than 40˚F.Lexel must cure 30 days before applying oil-based paints; oth-erwise the paint surface will remain tacky for 2 weeks ormore, depending on temperature and paint brand.
