Lexus Listening Lounge featuring Ryan Leslie
Recap UNIVERSAL MOTOWN STAR PERFORMS AT THE LEXUS LISTENING LOUNGE IN DALLAS
Ryan’s unique expressive sounds are as smooth as the Lexus GX460.
Dallas, TX, March 22, 2010
On this past Monday evening I joined some of Dallas’ industry elite in pursuit of
perfection. Lexus North America hosted a “Listening Lounge” featuring Universal
Motown artist Ryan Leslie in an intimate setting suitable to Ryan’s charming exterior.
Prior to his performance I got a chance to interview him but it wasn’t the usual set up
backstage. I’m instructed to step outside as Ryan is awaiting me; I step outside to find
Ryan in the back of a black Lexus GX460. He greets me with a smile from the back seat
and invites me to enjoy the comfort of this beautiful vehicle from the front passenger
seat to which I hopped in.
I begin the interview with a standard series of questions however; Ryan’s smooth
intelligence evolved my interview from the rapid “question after question” interview to
more of an intellectual conversation. Typical of most “multi-taskers” he’s a man that
wears a plethora of hats and is very passionate about his work. While in the midst of
creating his album “Transitions” he is also working on several other projects. Most
recent, you will find some of his production work on Keri Hilson’s album and few
other surprises this year as a featured artist.
In our conversation, Ryan talked about some of the songs he was going to perform
for us this evening and went in-depth about one song “All My Love” which speaks to a
woman scorned who doesn’t know how to receive new love. He said this song should
touch both the male and female audiences. I asked if this was written from personal
experiences and although Ryan wouldn’t give me any personal information, he has a
great personality and the intimate stage that he was about to perform on would provide
excellent continuance for his persona.
While I was talking to him he was very poised but onstage he released inertia of
energy that drew me in as a new fan as the Harvard Grad held the audience’s full
attention and they were ecstatic with his performance as I was from beginning to end.
Ryan’s unique, expressive sound and performance was as smooth as a Lexus
GX460… and full of luxury and class. I look forward to seeing what he does with his
career as an artist in addition to my next invitation for a ride in the GX460.
