During the program students will have an opportunity to view the international LGBTQ icons for the month of October as well as enjoy light food and refreshments. Threading Love for Youth October 1-November 22 260 Sondra and David S. Mack Student Center, North Campus Beginning in October, make a handmade scarf, beanie, gloves/mittens, and other winter accessories to benefit Love Threads. Love Threads is a national nonprofit organization aimed at increasing public awareness of homelessness among LGBTQ youth, through education, empowerment and social justice. In addition, write an anonymous inspirational note, quote, or tell your own story; a note can be long or short — it will be attached to the winter accessory. All items need to be dropped off by Monday, November 22, 2010. Yarn and crochet needles can be signed out in 260 Mack Student Center, North Campus. Starring Sean Penn as Harvey Milk, the first openly gay politician to be elected in California and the third to ever be elected in the United States, the film examines his entry into California politics and into the world of fighting for civil and political rights for the gay community of San Francisco.
