AudienceThis short film seems to definitely appeal to a younger audience, the humour used is very ironic and simple. The narrative of the pumpkin talking in a very straight forward manner with a slightly posh intonation to his voice. This in turn is how I see it appealing to the younger audience by turning a simple inanimate object into a 3d character with emotions is quite amusing. However parts of the film may be a bit inappropriate for too young an audience, the use of knifes to cut the pumpkin can be taken in a sadistic context, as could when the pumpkin describes his insides being pulled out, along with the concept of death at the end and wishing for death. The maximum age for this film I would say is probably around 35, the film whilst amusing can also come off as irritating and un-stimulating, hence it appealing more to a younger audience.

The film is set in 3 different locations. The first location is in a pumpkin patch, this is used quite cleverly as the chosen pumpkin calls out to the other pumpkins for help, claiming them to be his family and friends. It helps instil more personification to the character as though they were a community. The second location is in a kitchen where the pumpkin is placed on the table and carved. Again it adds significance to an otherwise insignificant object, the table becomes an almost dissection table and the kitchen a prison as the pumpkin is held against his will and dissected. As usually found in a kitchen the majority of sharp objects surrounding make it seem much more mischievous than any other kitchen. The third location is outside the families home, on the doorstep. This like the others is another familiar setting given new meaning . The pumpkin expresses how he feels this is a way of publicly humiliating him, and as he is smashed the normal sidewalk is turned into an execution grounds.
