No one after lighting a lamp puts it in a cellar,* but on the lampstand so that those who enter may see the light. 34Your eye is the lamp of your body. If your eye is healthy, your whole body is full of light; but if it is not healthy, your body is full of darkness. 35Therefore consider whether the light in you is not darkness. 36If then your whole body is full of light, with no part of it in darkness, it will be as full of light as when a lamp gives you light with its rays.’ - Luke 11, 33-36

As Jesus and His disciples were on their way, He came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to Him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what He said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to Him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!" "Martha, Martha," The Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." Is the enlightenment that the Siddharta went through 500 Years before Christ a similar experience from that which disciples experienced when the tongues of fire descended on their in the cloistered room where they were hiding in fear of the Romans?Is Christ an embodiment of enlightenment or was he beyond that?

A Superficial Comparison

• Buddhist enlightenment is often related on extreme self denial leading to the abandonment of self (Atman)

• Enlightenment seem to come from inside out…as an internal realization

• Christ was totally selfless though he was not involved in ascetism in his daily life except for the singular event of his crucifixation,.

• The holy spirit descended externally on the disciples.
