AMPONG,MA,.ENGL.1 PhD.unit LLR.NO1-RATING; LIFE OF A SINGLE MOM A snigle mother or also called as a single parent refers to a parent who lives a husband. She has all the responsibilities including raising the children. She takes care of the children in majority of the time. One of the reasons for becoming a single mother is separation and divorce. The costudy of the children is sometimes won by the primary caregiver, the mother. The raeson fer this is because the father works most of the day which result in less time for the children, specially if the child is still young, he /she will still need someone to take care of them. In this situition, it would be better if the child would be with mother. So they could get the attention they nee. Children from single parent families are more prone to suffer memtal health problemsthan these living with married parents. They are also more likely to display risky behaviours like : smoking,drinking,violince, unsafe sexual activity and suicide because of the attentions which they lack. They wont feel secure. They may also lose their belife in god. Being a single moth er has negative eff ects. Their chil dren could have low educational attainment. This is because single mothers do not have the besources to fully support their child in school. Being the only person earning money for the family could gi ve her problems in budgeting the m oney specailly if she has l ow salary. Which could lead to the child stopping at school. The other one is that the child could not perform well at school because the mother could not help the child in his/her academics due to a busy schedule. There are also positive effects of being a single mother. Their children could be independent, they would learn to do household work while their still young. Because they have to help their mother do the chores.
