A note about the fireworks:

Independence Day is a holiday often associated with

fireworks and you’ll notice that while we have many

exciting events planned, fireworks are not included in the

festivities. The 20,000 acres of Palmetto Bluff are home

to an incredible array of birdlife. Since 2004 the

Palmetto Bluff Conservancy has conducted an Audubon

Bird survey annually and the number of birds and variety

of species have increased. This growth in birdlife is

due to the sustainable development practices of

Palmetto Bluff in partnership with the Conservancy.

In concert with this commitment to the wildlife and the

serenity of Palmetto Bluff, since 2017 we have committed to

restricting fireworks on the property. The loud noise and the

excessive light frightens the wildlife, in particular the birds.

In addition to the disturbing nature of the light and sound,

the explosives create a potential fire hazard. Protecting the

beautiful live oaks, pines and palms that create our glorious

canopy and home to all of these amazing creatures is vital.

We share this story with you because family is important,

traditions are important and giving you just one more

reason to fall in love with the Bluff is important.
