In short ...

Video and Lighting Your project will dictate what sort of control you will need. Light Emissions displays can do both. All

displays offer the highest performance video image display. Our Air and Freedom ranges

can additionally be controlled directly from lighting controllers, enabling complete system integra-

tion into large lighting designs.

Visual Quality Light Emissions video graphic displays are based on transmitting full speed video data, from input to

the very last pixel in the display.

The visual result is therefore fast and smooth, irrespective of the size of the display or the

shape, avoiding visual ‘tearing’ which occurs on large displays whenever video is compressed into non-

video formats.

Quality and Reliability Light Emissions design, manufacture and wholly own every part of our displays. Therefore no PC

hardware or software are used, ensuring the very highest operational reliability. Also, if power is lost

temporarily, the display restarts automatically in seconds without needing anybody to help the restart.

All displays and electronics are manufactured in the United Kingdom and mainland Europe, ensuring

the highest quality assurance.

Pixels – anywhere A range of products to provide solutions to practically any installation design - from large expanses of

rectangular displays to intricate shapes and difficult curved surfaces.

Brightness A display that is too dim for its surroundings is worse than a waste of money. It also gives a

bad impression.

All displays have a minimum brightness of Interior Daylight, which can be defined as 1,600 nits (Cd/m2),

suitable for indoor spaces with considerable amount of daylight through windows. Some displays also

produce Exterior Daylight brightness, over 4,000 nits.

Essentials

Essentials

Heat Video display LEDs run very cool. The only hot components are the power supply units (PSUs), which

install at a distance from the display.

This enables the displays to be placed in positions where it would be impossible to use ‘traditional’

video displays, such as in confined spaces, and right up against a ceiling, where cooling would

be impossible.

Running cool also significantly reduces the aging of electronic components and increases system life.

Increasingly, there are strict energy management requirements, both for consumption and for air

conditioning.

You decide….. It is possible to ‘play’ images on displays using either video or lighting control protocols. Which control

method to be chosen must be considered in light of what is best for the intended installation.

It is important is knowing what sort of media is desired, and if the media is to be changed during the

life of the installation.

Lighting This normally requires programming each ‘pixel’, or ‘node’, as a light with three channels, RGB. This

is done with a lighting controller that outputs digital lighting data. Alternatively, there are lighting

controllers that accept video signals and ‘map’ the incoming video to lighting data.

Due to the high speed of video data, relatively low speed of lighting data, and demanding processor re-

quirements, this type of control would limit the size of the screen before delays and ‘tearing’

of images become noticeable.

Video This is where the video input is transmitted directly to the pixels in the display, without

any processing or mapping to other types of data. The result is that there is no ‘lag’ between the

video input and the display, and no lag between the ‘first pixel’ and ‘last pixel’, thus ensuring not

only fast media rendering but also smooth movement of media.

Media can be changed and updated at any time without a needing to use a specialist lighting

programmer.

Air

Vent© and Stick©

Air is our range of linear displays to allow more creative ways to form transparent displays that is possi-

ble to let light and air through. Vent and Stick have both interior and exterior use rating, and can have

Exterior Daylight or Interior Daylight brightness.

Vent is a totally transparent display that can cover both small and massive areas. Using Stick as

a building element, Vent can be constructed to be fixed onto any lightweight structure.

Transparency allows viewers from the font to see brilliant high quality video or graphics,

but also see through the display, when the screen is dark. Viewers from behind have clear

views through, if the display is off or on. Transparency can also be important for exterior situations

where wind factors are important

Power and control can be placed remotely in easily accessible places. This also gives the highest reliabil-

ity possible, as there are no complex electronics in the display area itself.

ArtBoard

The ArtBoard© is the basic ‘area’ LED display building block. ArtBoards are built to last, with the

highest consideration taken to quality and long operational life, as they are designed to be installed in

high profile public spaces, where disruption must be kept to the very minimum.

Full and half size ArtBoards can be positioned to form practically any sized and shaped display on a

board by board basis, allowing for any curved surface or irregular display shape, even in 3D.

ArtBoards work with full speed digital video signals, providing fast and smooth video visual rendering

however big the display area is – hundreds or thousands of square feet. Latency, or ‘delay’, between

the video input and the last pixel in the display is never more than 2 frames. This is undetectable by

the human eye.

ArtBoard Displays are the basic building elements of the Art range. Local controllers and power supply

units can be placed at remote positions for easy access for servicing without having to access and

disrupt the display area.

The video input unit, the Brain, allows blisteringly fast and smooth video playback, but also important new functionality, such as 0 – 10V Dimming, and Backup graphic in case of lost video input signal.

Control

DVI, ArtNet, DMX

Large visual displays attract a lot of attention and therefore demand the highest quality playback. The

faster the source Digital video is, the better the speed and movement of the images. Art, Air and

Freedom displays deals with this speed, resulting in an unequalled smoothness and speed of playback

over any size display.

Where media use is not so demanding and integration with lighting systems is important, Air and

Freedom displays are able to be controlled with ArtNet or DMX outputs.
