MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of Lighthouse Christian School is to glorify God by reaching children who might otherwise be left behind. We believe that given the right opportunities academically, physically and spiritually every child can and will flourish.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

We believe that the Bible is the complete and infallible word of God. We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, we believe Jesus was born of a virgin was crucified and shed his blood for the redemption of our sins. We believe that his death and resurrection was an atonement that includes eternal life with him as well as healing of body, mind and Spirit. We believe that on the third day, after being crucified, he arose from the grave and is in heaven ever living to make intercession for the body of Christ. (John 1:1, Is. 7:14, Luke 1:26-38)

We believe in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Three persons in one. (Matt. 28:18-20)

We believe that believers in Christ (Christians) are called and empowered by the Holy Spirit to live Holy lives.

We believe that Christ sent the Holy Spirit to empower His saints to fulfill the great commission. (Mat.28:19,-20)

We believe in the Second Coming of our Lord, Jesus Christ. We believe there is an eternal heaven and an eternal hell. (John 14:3, Luke 16:23, Luke 23:43)

We believe in the Lord’s Supper, as remembrance of his life and death for us (Luke 22:19-20, I Cor. 10: 16-17).

We believe in water Baptism as a public testimony of our identification with Jesus in His death and resurrection life. (Rom 6:3-4)

JOB DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Read and follow all school guidelines and policies.

Conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times. Be a positive role model for your students. Pray for them and for their families, as well as for fellow teachers.

Place his/her teaching ministry ahead of other jobs or volunteer activities.

Maintain a personal appearance that is a Christian role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste, and agreement with school policy.

Follow the provided curriculum. Any added curriculum must be submitted to your director for approval.

Provide instruction on various levels and use diverse teaching methods to reach students who have different learning styles.

Maintain order in your classroom and an environment conducive to learning.

Communicate with students, regarding academics, behavior, and attitude.

Supplement the text with a variety of activities, projects and materials. Pace yourself so as not to complete books before the end of the year.

Provide the students/parents with a list of classroom rules and expectations.

Grade papers and tests in a timely manner. Provide constructive feedback to the students. Give students the opportunity to retest or do make-up work if they perform unsatisfactorily. Keep a working folder for each student. This should be available when requested.

Establish daily/weekly method of sharing completed student work with parents. Keep detailed daily lesson plans on LCS format.

Students are only graded against themselves.

Enter grades in a timely manner, never more than one week behind.

Prepare annual Student Education Plans.

Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe classroom; decorate bulletin boards and room with pertinent, motivating materials.

Turn in absences and tardies to the office daily.

Attend and participate in weekly teacher meetings, planning days, trainings, parent conferences, and school functions.

Maintain confidentiality of student information.

Maintain “Line of Sight” supervision of students before/after school, at lunchtime, in your classroom, in the hallways, on field trips and field days, and at special student activities as assigned by the Campus Director. Additionally at NO time shall an employee participate in PE with his/her class, it is impossible to maintain line of sight and participate.

Communicate with the Campus Director regarding all matters concerning students.

Complete textbook and equipment/furniture inventories, as requested.

Contact the Campus Director as soon as possible if you will be late or absent.

Prepare adequate information and materials for a substitute teacher. There should always be 5 days’ worth of assignments (replenish as needed –review work) – material not to be tested on.

Submit all requests to the Campus Director, in writing.

Perform other responsibilities from time to time, as needed.

All teachers work directly under the supervision of the Campus Director.
