The Astra SAFESTEP luminaire is specifically designed for use in cleanrooms and clean areas such as in the pharmaceutical, food, micro-electronic and healthcare industries.

Aptly named, the SAFESTEP luminaires’ unique design integrates seamlessly into composite panel ceilings and provides walk-on protection, thus safeguarding personnel working above the ceiling.

With safety paramount in mind, the SAFESTEP luminaire removes potential trip hazards and the risk of falls from height, whilst also eliminating any need for boxes, cages or barriers that are often fitted on top of non-walkable luminaires.

SAFESTEP Luminaire


Construction:

Fabrication: 16-gauge Z-profile, 18-gauge lid and 20-gauge housing from CRS. Welded construction with a durable Ral 9010 epoxy powder coat finish - 5 step pre-treatment. Salt spray test 1,000 hours.

Optics: High impact resistant Makrolon® opal polycarbonate diffusers with high light transmission and excellent lamp hiding providing a uniform appearance.

Gasket: EPDM closed cell gaskets seal-on lid and VHB adhesive bonding diffuser to front frame.

Specification:

Installation: For installation into 2'', 3'', 4'', 5'' and 6'' ceiling panel systems. Also available to suit a range of walk-on grid systems.

Photometrics: Photometry tested to IESNA LM-79-08 standards & EN13032:1.

Warranty: Limited five (5) year warranty.

Listings: Luminaire is certified to UL standards by MET laboratories Inc. UL1598 Standard for Safety Luminaires, UL 8750 Standard for Safety Light Emitting Diode (LED) Equipment for Use in Lighting.

Electrical:

120/277VAC, 50-60Hz electrical input with replaceable electronic constant current driver (<10% THD, >0.90 PF).

Electrical Connections:

Power supply - Internal Connections: As standard the luminaires are to be hard wired. This is by removing the luminaire lid and inserting the power supply cable through the cable gland entry. Internally there is a terminal bock for power, dimming and emergency options as required.

Power supply - Pre-wired Lead/Whip: Alternatively the luminaire can be supplied with lead/whip which is pre-wired to the luminaire and the opposite end of the lead can be prepared or fitted with a plug connector.

Power supply - External Connections: The luminaire is pre-wired with a walk-on PCB (power connection box) on the back of the lid. The PCB houses a panel mount connector for plug & play connections and is available in 3, 4, 5 & 6 poles to accommodate dimming and emergency versions.

Pre-wired leads to the length of your choice can be supplied to create a complete plug & play wiring system.

LL/CW: Luminaire Lumens per circuit watt - The efficiency of the luminaire including the electrical losses associated with the control gear and the reduced lumen output due to the light-transmission of the diffuser material.

L90/B10:These figures illustrate the life expectancy of the LED (e.g. 50K = 50,000 hour life expectancy) which is a combination of light output degradation (L90 = when the light output has reduced to 90% of its initial level) and lamp failure expectations (B10 = when 10% of the LEDs have failed to meet operational expectations.

Life Expectancy (L70):This figure illustrates the life expectancy of the LEDs at 100,000 hours as L70 (when the light output has reduced to 70% of it’s initial level).

Ra:‘Ra’ indicates the LED colour rendering index. We recommend Ra80 for working areas.

CCT (Colour Temperature):°K indicates colour temperature. We recommend 4000 - 5000K for working areas.

Colour Consistency:SDCM is an acronym which stands for Standard Deviation Colour Matching. SDCM has the same meaning as ‘MacAdam Ellipse’.

Anti-bacterial Coating:

Anti-bacterial powder coatings provide an active biocidal system based on silver, which is effective against major strains of bacteria. This provides long term protection against bacterial growth and is shown to exhibit zero growth for fungi and moulds. The coating delivers a constant and controlled release of Silver ions which remain active for periods in excess of 10 years. The active Silver ions penetrate the bacteria cell walls disrupting the cell and inhibiting bacterial growth.

How Anti-bacterial works

304/316 stainless steel:

Corrosion resistance of stainless steel varies by grade. The two most common stainless steel grades are 304 and 316. The key difference is the addition of molybdenum, an alloy which drastically enhances corrosion resistance, especially for more stringent environments. 316 stainless steel contains molybdenum, but 304 doesn’t.

Chemical Resistant Coating:

Options are available for both yellow LEDs, providing protection up to 500nm and red LEDs with protection up to 620nm wavelengths. Twin switching enables both white light and red/yellow light from within one luminaire.

A product with the MET Listed Mark is determined to have met the minimum requirements of prescribed safety standards as certified by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NTRL). The mark also indicates that the manufacturers production site confirms to a range of compliance measures and is subject to regular inspections to verify continued conformance.

Rated to IP65/64 ingress protection for both water and dust.

Both 60598-2-2 :2012 and EN 60598-1 :2015 - Certified design and manufactured.
