    Click the Preferences icon to

    review or change shortcut key

    assignments.

    Importing Clips

    Importing Clips

    Click the Import icon to open the Select Files to Import dialog box .

    Formats or Rates

    shown in RED denote

    clip is not compatible

    (see note).

    Click to import selected items.

    (Option): Type filename name directly

    into text box.

    Click Cogs icon for Ingest /

    Transcoding options .

    Click to select items.

    Hold down SHIFT or

    Ctrl key to select

    multiple items.

    Click to select List or

    Tiles format.

    Click for drop down

    list of shortcuts,

    drives, etc.

    Type new name here and

    press Enter.

    Text changes from BLUEto GREEN, denoting Bin is

    now permanent and can

    be searched.

    A new ( temporary) Bin opens:

    Clips with incompatible(frame)rates may be

    playable in a new project set to the sameframerate as the clip.

    Incompatible video formats may requireadditional Codecs to be installed.

    Basic Recording

    Basic Recording

    Click the Record icon to open the Record Tool.

    Select the recording device you want from the dropdown l ist, or select Add new device.

    Select Compressionmethod.

    Select file format.

    Click to configure

    Device.

    Select video format.

    Select a destination.

    Select Recording Type.

    Record Tool expands to showVideo Display area.

    Audio Level meters

    (Analogue channelsonly)

    Video source

    Use transport control buttons to positiontape a few seconds before desired In point.

    Ensure Video and Genlock

    indicators are GREEN

    Click to start recording.

    Label changes to End.

    Click End or to stopand save recording.

    During Manual recording, each clip

    is placed in a Bin named after thetape ID.

    At start of recording, a Filecardopens (see Logging).

    You must have a compatible video source available,

    e.g. a deck or camera connected to the IEEE 1394(Firewire) port of your PC.

    Click Standby again after recording has

    stopped.

    Disconnect the deck or camera after youhave fin ished recording.

    Click when finished.

    Logging

    Filecards are created during recording. You can add information(Metadata) to Filecards whi le you are recording.

    Select a text box in the Filecard and type the information you want.

    Open Clip in Source Viewer,

    and click on Filecard button .

    Fields marked withcannot be changed.

    To modify a Filecard when you are not recording :

    Text entered here appears below Clip thumbnail.

    Click here to open folder

    containing origina l Clip.

    Click to close.

    You can also add information directly into the Project Bin (List View).

    Editing Clips

    Editing Clips

    Using the Playback Controls, stop the Clip at

    the position where you want your edit to end .

    Click the OUT button next to the Playback

    Controls.

    The portion between the IN and OUT points is

    now selected.

    Using the Playback Controls, stop the Clip at

    the position where you want your edit to start .

    Click the IN button next to the Playback

    Controls.

    (Playback marker changes from RED to BLUE.)

    Double-click thumbnail (List or Tile

    view) to open Clip in Source Viewer

    Use the Playback Controls at bottom of screen to move

    through the clip , and to mark IN and OUT points .

    Building the Storyline

    Click button at bottom of screen (or press v on keyboard).

    The marked portion appears in the record viewer and in the Timelin.

    Click the Edi t icon to open an (empty) Edit window and Timeline.

    Click on the viewer containing your clip

    or subclip.

    Move the frame marker to the place you want to insert the new cl ip.

    Opening an Edit Window

    Select the next clip for the Storyboard

    and open in a Source Viewer.

    Click button at bottom of screen (or press v on keyboard).

    The new clip appears in the record viewer and in the Timeline.

    Repeat for each clip you wish to appear in the Storyline.

    Export

    Export

    Click the Export icon - or drag onto clip , shot or edit.

    The Export dia log box opens.

    To change folder, click to openExport Destination dialog box.

    Click to select new clip, shot or edit from drop

    down list.

    Click to open Export Format dialog box.

    Select required format (editlists, media files or camera

    formats).

    Type name for output file (or

    leave as Automatic).

    Click to start Export.

    Progress window opens.

    Progress Bar and Time

    Remaining Counter.

    Click to open foldercontaining exported file.

    Export Complete
