Our first stop is the Lincoln Home National Historic Site. Here you can follow in the footsteps of the father, husband, lawyer, and statesman who led the nation through the turbulent Civil War and inspired him to turn the war into a “new birth of freedom.” After the president’s life was tragically cut short by an assassin’s bullet on April 15, 1865, his remains were returned to his beloved hometown of Springfield – we will visit Lincoln’s Tomb, where a monument was erected to preserve his memory. After checking in to tonight’s accommodations, we enjoy an included dinner. D Day 3, Thursday Our day begins at the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum. See where Sam Clemens grew up and where the REAL adventures of Tom Sawyer took place. Nearby is the Huckleberry Finn House, Becky Thatcher House, and Norman Rockwell Gallery. This afternoon we arrive in Columbia, MO, where we explore the life of Winston Churchill at the National Churchill Museum located under the historic St. Mary's Church. This church was moved from London to Westminster, stone by stone, and rebuilt to original specs. This evening we will enjoy a culinary tour of the Columbia downtown district that will allow us to experience delicious tastes and aromas. We continue on to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. Here twenty- first century technology is used to immerse visitors in a world of gas lamps and hoop skirts—Lincoln’s world. Next on our agenda is the Old State Capitol Historic Site. This historic Greek revival building is located on the old town square and was associated with Lincoln as early as 1837. As legislator, he had been instrumental in moving the capitol of Illinois to Springfield. We continue on to Hannibal, MO, for tonight's lodging. Dinner is included. B, D NEW TOUR

Day 4, Friday Our first attraction will offer us a unique experience as we tour the historic Missouri State Penitentiary and walk the halls of the oldest building (1868). Our guide will share information about the dungeon cells, gas chamber, riot of 1954, escape attempts and much more. After lunch, be on the lookout for paws and tails as we learn about the Puppies for Parole program associated with the Missouri Dept. of Corrections. Our next attractions is

the Warm Springs Ranch at Boonville, MO, home to the world headquarters of the Budweiser Clydesdale breeding operation. This facility is located on 300+ acres of land with over 100 Clydesdales on site. Our lodging tonight is in the St. Louis area. B, L

Day 5, Saturday We have made new friends and visited interesting attractions to add to our memory book. Late afternoon we arrive at our home destinations. B
