Greene County Memorial Hospital Foundation Presents Lindsey Davis with $25,000 Auxiliary of Southwest Regional Medical Center Physician Tuition Assistance Award Lindsey Davis, of Rices Landing, received the first annual Auxiliary of Southwest Regional Medical Center Physician Tuition Assistance Award, sponsored by the Greene County Memorial Hospital Foundation. The annual award is given to a Greene County resident, currently enrolled in medical school, and who intends to return to Greene County to practice medicine. Miss Davis, a graduate of Jefferson‐Morgan High School in 2003, graduated from Westminster College Summa Cum Laude with a major in neuroscience. She then matriculated to the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, WV, where she is currently enrolled. During her academic pursuits, she has received many awards, including the National Dean's List, Westminster's Academic Honor Society and Trustee Scholarship. She has also been very active in community organizations and local schools, assisting with flu shots, administering standardized tests, and presenting lectures on various health related topics. She is very much looking forward to setting up her family practice in Greene County upon completion of her residency training. "The chance to practice medicine in Greene County will allow me to help a community that has historically been faced with problems that so commonly plague rural America. I look forward to meeting the challenge with determination, compassion and empathy." GCMH Foundation Board President, Jay Hammers is delighted the Auxiliary of SRMC continues to contribute to the foundation to make programs such as this a reality. "Providing awards to the best and the brightest from Greene County who intend to come back and improve the health and well being of our residents is extremely fulfilling and we hope we will be able to do this for many years to come." GCMH Foundation has awarded $45,000 in scholarships and tuition assistance programs in the past month to eight local students enrolled in a variety of healthcare fields.
