Hear Me Out One of the advantages of having worked in both NHS and private hearing care is that you see the whole spectrum of practice, good and bad, in both sectors.

When it comes to determining exactly what a client really needs from a quality hearing care service the answers are already there.

We ask ourselves that every day. People do seem to make impulse purchases based on a sales presentation promising all sorts of technological fixes from an out of town company. Those promises aren’t always fulfilled and the company is far enough away to make it difficult for access to follow ups and fine tunes.

If you say you are not getting the same benefit from your hearing aid as at the initial fit we will reassess your hearing, re-evaluate the performance of your hearing aid in-situ and reset your hearing aid free of charge within the warranty period.

Why We Became Young Leaders at 1st Stalmine We first got involved in Scouting when we joined Cubs at Stalmine, and we then moved on to Scouts. As we got too old for Scouts, we realised we didn’t want to leave Stalmine, and we also wanted to put something back into the com-munity seeing as we had had such a great time at Stalmine since we started. We initially decided to work with Cubs, and so we went to Young Leader training, these help us to learn the best way to help the lead-ers, and how to organise our meet-ings. At Stalmine Cubs we regularly plan evenings and help out with games when our leaders are busy with something else.

At the moment our Cub pack are doing badges, and so we decided that we would split our pack into groups, and let them choose from 3 different badges. We decided to do the environmental issues chal-lenge badge, and so we worked on things like fairtrade, languages and tradition in other countries with the Cubs. We enjoy going to Cubs every week because it means we get to stay at Stalmine and help our new Leaders to get used to the way things are run in Cubs. It also works towards our Duke of Edinburgh award and gives us a chance to try

and make Cubs as much fun now, as it was for us. Recently Sam and Zoe have also started helping out at Scouts, by running games, giving the leaders a hand organising things, and help-ing the Scouts out with skills such as map work and knots. Lauren, Holly, Zoe, and Samantha (Sam) •Scouting in West Lancashire has a membership of just under 10,000 mem-bers in the following 8 Districts: Chorley, Blackpool, Preston, Ormskirk, South Ribble, Fylde, Wyre, and Lonsdale.
