Efficiency Long Island

Efficiency Long Island is a 10-year, $924 million energy efficiency program

providing incentives and rebates to LIPA customers that will help reduce energy usage and lower monthly bills.

Programs, Rebates & Incentives…

• LIPA Cool Homes Program– Up to $700 in rebates for CAC / heat pumps

• Rebates for Energy Efficient Products– CFLs, dehumidifiers, pool pumps, refrigerators and

furnace fans

• LIPA’s Refrigerator Recycling Program– $35 to recycle your old working refrigerator/freezer

Home Performance Direct

• New program designed to assist eligible customers with electric heat & high electric use CAC systems

• FREE high quality Home Performance Assessment• Same-day measures may include:– Duct and Air Sealing– Domestic Water demand reduction measures– Installation of CFLs– Heath and Safety Testing– Additional efficiency opportunities available

Home Performance Assessment• Phase I:– Extensive diagnostic testing, including blower door test– Evaluation of existing home conditions

• Phase II:– Work scope developed by participating BPI Accredited

Contractor– Proposed improvements– Cost and energy savings estimate

Home Performance Direct

• 2010 LIPA Residential Customer Incentives:– HPD provides services FREE to homes with electric heat as

their primary fuel source and/or with high electric use CAC

– Customers who follow-up with additional energy efficiency measures* through Home Performance with ENERGY STAR are eligible for the following incentives:• Electrically heated homes receive 75% incentive on insulation and

air/duct sealing with a $3,000 cap

• Homes heated with oil/propane that have high electric use CAC are eligible for 25% incentive on insulation and air/duct sealing with a $3,000 cap

* Follow up measures must be installed by participating BPI accredited contractor

• LIPA’s Solar Pioneer Program for Homeowners and LIPA’s Solar Entrepreneur Program for:– Commercial Customers– Municipalities, Non-Profits and Schools

Solar Pioneer Program

• Make sure your Solar System is properly sited:– Optimal roof orientation – South is best– Avoid shading from trees, chimneys & gables– Size your PV system to meet your energy needs– Consult a participating solar contractor first

• Net Metering up to 25 kW systems– LIPA rebate available up to 10 kW

• Federal and State Tax Credits apply

Solar Pioneer & Entrepreneur Programs

• For Homeowners:– $2.50 / watt up to 10 kW with a max. of $25,000

• Additional rebates available for commercial, municipal and non-profit customers

• Declining Rebate Incentive:• Total of four – 1 Mega Watt (or 1,000 kilowatts) blocks• Incentive will decline $.25 / watt as each block expires• Combined total of residential, commercial and

municipal PV systems approved

• Generate emission-free electricity • Reduce fossil fuel consumption• Use of abundant & renewable ‘fuel’• Lower your electric bill
