Dear Partner,

It is a great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 40th Congress of the European Soci-ety of Surgical Oncology, which will be held from 21 to 23 October 2020 in Lisbon. After a very successful ESSO 39 Congress with a record abstract submission and atten-dance, the Scientific Committee is highly motivated to compile an outstanding pro-gramme for our next meeting.

“Shaping the future of Cancer Care” will be the theme of ESSO 40. Divided in tracks addressing the main cancers, the scientific programme will include a first-class panel of speakers presenting on the very latest developments, trends and innovative techniques in the management of patients with solid tumours. Also, because we recognise the im-portance of a multidisciplinary approach to cancer patient care, the programme will in-volve experts from different disciplines. Backed by popular demand are the educational workshops, Dragon’s Den session, young mentorships, patients’ advocacy and women in surgery scientific symposia.

An integral part of ESSO 40 is the industry symposia and workshops, Meet-the-Ex-pert Sessions, Exhibition, & Sponsorship elements of the Congress. Not only does this provide participants with additional educational opportunities, but also an excellent platform for networking and a perfect opportunity to gain further insight into state-of-the-art technology, latest healthcare services and solutions within the cancer surgery field. ESSO 40 industry partners will have the opportunity to exchange with Congress partici-pants seeking tailored solutions that may help them in their daily patient care, diagnosis and research activities.

This Invitation to Industry (ITI) offers you a broad and exciting range of opportunities and tools to achieve the highest level of exposure to experts in various disciplines within Europe and beyond. We invite you to select from the many ‘winning formula’ packages and elements associated with the Congress including: Satellite Symposia and Exhibition opportunities.

With a projected attendance of over 900 delegates from 60 countries, up to 70 invited leading cancer experts gathering in a city with a rich and diverse cultural heritage, the ESSO 40 Congress promises extraordinary educational and networking opportunities.

We look forward to working with you to advance the role of surgical care in the manage-ment of patients with solid tumours. United by a common vision, ESSO 40 participants, in-dustry and organisers alike will surely mark another highly successful milestone in Lisbon on 21 – 23 October 2020.

CODES OF PRACTICEAll companies and associations exhibiting at ESSO 40 are advised to consult the guidelines and codes of practice applicable in The Netherlands. By signing the relevant application form to participate at the ESSO 40 Congress, each company or organisation agrees to and confirms that it has reviewed the advice and guidelines which determine the applicable codes of practice in Spain and that it will be adhering to all relevant codes and accepts all liability in all cases of non-compliance with these codes.

Farmaindustria adopted in 1991 as Spanish Code the European Code of Practice for the Promotion of Medicines, approved by the Eu-ropean Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA). Since this first version, it has been reviewed (the last version is from October 2016) to adapt itself and anticipate the new requirements from a society in constant evolution.

This continuous evolution is caused by the necessity to adapt it to legislative modifications and new initiatives in the field of self-regula-tion, as well as to cover the set of activities carried out by the pharmaceutical companies with its stakeholders, with whom it interacts and relates and by the will to reinforce its compliance and endow the Code with more credibility and transparency.

The Code becomes key to guarantee that the information provided in the field of promotion of prescription-only medicines is complete, accurate and objective, everything to benefit the interests of both the Healthcare Administration and the pharmaceutical industry itself, with the aim to protect and improve public health.www.codigofarmaindustria.org/servlet/sarfi/home.html
