Laser Applicators According to Scientific American,15% of people are left-handed.Lefties have a greater chance of being a genius– or having a high IQ Left-handed people use the right hemisphere of their brain (which is closely related to creativity more frequently). They are also likely to be more visual than language-based, making them ideal for artistic pursuits.Left-handed people as a group have historically produced an above -average quota of high achievers. All the above mentioned facts in amalgamated form suggest that left-handed dentists are likely to successfuly master the art of laser dentistry.

Introducing the new LiteTouch Left-Handed Laser Applicator, a masterpiece for Left-Handed dentists. The new custom designed Left-Handed Laser Applicator includes the unmatched ergonomic advantages of the LiteTouch`s Laser-in-the-Handpiece™ technology: maneuverability, complete freedom of movement, flexibility and comfort, now also adapted for left-handed use.

Custom-shaped tip, designed for very fine and continuous cutting of soft tissue, with minimal tearing around the cut – just like a finely forged Japanese sword.

The distal end of the tip, as well as its body,

are honed to very precise edges, allowing continuous fine cutting along the line of movement of the tip, with minimal damage to surrounding tissues, and no perforation effect.

The Katana tip is recommended for cutting procedures in soft tissue, especially when longer and finer cuts are required.

User’s Impression

I had the honor to participate in the clinical evaluation of the new “Katana Tip”. According to my experience this tip is able to make the best incisions I`ve ever seen. The cuts with the Katana tips are smoother, more precise and also faster as -unlike with the other tips- it works in continuous mode. My recommended settings for inscissions with the Katana tip are: 200 mj, 20 HZ. Dr. Yuusuke Takahashi, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan.

Replacing/Installing a Tip in the Laser Handpiece

Proper handling of the laser tip while inserting it into the handpiece is critical to keep the system’s performance and reliability, and prevent high maintenance costs and requirements. It will ensure that the tip is correctly aligned and fully coupled with the laser path, and that the internal area of the handpiece (including the replaceable mirror) is fully watertight and protected from water and other foreign substances.

Always make sure that the tip and the laser aperture are completely dry before removing or inserting a tip. Any water that enters the aperture can stain the mirror and may degrade the system’s performance.

Use the clinic’s compressed air system to blow any water off of the tip and the laser aperture before removing the tip.To remove a tip from the laser handpiece, hold it by the distal end [A] and pull it out of the aperture [B]). Before installing a tip in the handpiece, check the tip for cracks, breaks, discolorations or dark spots. If you find any, dispose of the tip and use a new one.

Check the proximal end of the tip: remove dust with compressed air, clean smudges with a cotton tip dipped in alcohol and dry with compressed air. Check that there are no drops of water on the laser aperture. Clean with dry cotton tip if necessary.

Do not use compressed air on the aperture without a tip as water may enter the aperture!

Install the tip by pushing its proximal end into the aperture until it stops. Perform a quarter turn while pushing on the tip to ensure it is secured and inserted all the way.

The double colored O-rings on the proximal end of the tip should be fully inserted so that they are not visible at all when looking at the handpiece (no color should be distinguishable out of the nozzle). After installing the tip, check the distal end: remove dust with compressed air, clean smudges with a cotton tip dipped in alcohol and dry with compressed air.
