YOUR GREAT IDEAS

What kind of ideas?: Ideas on how in 2020, we can celebrate the theme of Jaguar’s and MG’s History of Innovation, Invention and Competition. WHEN: At the January 14

th, Members Meeting…….

However, this is just the beginning. HOW? At the January 14

th meeting we will have a group discus-

sion and ask the attendees for their ideas during the meeting. It is not necessary to explain “how”, just the “what”. What we come up with will be captured and given to the Executive for review.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. If you can’t attend the meet-ing and have ideas, send them to: Mike McChesney [email protected] Malcolm Reith [email protected]

Ross Mullen of Ross Sports is primarily a restorer of Datsun Sports Cars and based in Surrey BC. He has contacted the club through Ian Newby looking for help with two 1963 Mark 2 Jaguars. Ross participated in our 2019 Heritage Show. His email request is as follows:- “I have a customer with two 1963 Mark 2 and we are assessing the first vehicle. It has had some previous body damage that has been poorly repaired and now wing to door gaps, both front and rear are askew and rear fender skirts are not lining up the way they should. I would love to be able to see a few good examples of what proper gap and tolerances are so that we may re-pair this beautiful car to its former glory.” If you are able to advise or show examples of a good car, and keep another classic Jaguar or 2 on the road then please contact Ross at – Phone: 604.538.5615 604-992-0747 cell Shop: 604.541.8095 Email: [email protected]

Requesting an Expression of Interest from early XK and E-Type owners

Jim McLagan recently became the Western Canadian representative for the UK based E-Type and XK Club. He has been a member of the E-Type club for over 10 years and discovered the monthly maga-zine was interesting with articles about events and from people restoring similar cars to the work he was doing on his 1967 FHC. Discounts for club members from venders also came in useful and another bene-fit was discovering events organized through the club. Sue and Jim have participated in a few including a guided driving tour around New Zealand in 2016 and in 2019 a similar event in Greece, with the bonus of adding some new friends from the XK and E-Type clubs.

His goal is to share the benefits of the club with other Jaguar owners and try to grow the local participa-tion. This would obviously not be a conflict with CXKJR/CCMGC activities and if we have enough interest we would brainstorm ideas such as weekend events to some of the spectacular areas around this part of the world.

Although you are encouraged to think about joining one of the clubs this is not a requirement to Express Your Interest in participating in any events we arrange.

Please scroll through the websites for the two clubs https://www.e-typeclub.com and https://www.xkclub.com , read the digital version of the magazine and if you have any questions please drop Jim an email at [email protected] or call him at 604 538 4579.

We thought that a look back at the 50th year of the club would ring in the first monthly edition for 2020.

We chose to show the club events organised by our Executive and sub committees; how many did you make? If we missed

some please forgive the omission. There were also many externally organised events throughout the year that members partic-

ipated in. We were the highest contributor to Kruise for Kids at $4,500, their record year total was over $24,000.

It was the year that Team Newby presided over us, Doreen for MG and Ian as Jag Presidents. As original members I bet they

never considered a 50th anniversary back in 1969! We celebrated with some special events like showing our cars at the Van-

couver Auto Show in March, the Mash Bash at Château Newby’s, 2 great parties with live bands Fab Fourever Beatles tribute

and Ready Steady Go, British Invasion. We had a “Retro” Club Meeting in May at Robson Park Vancouver, the very first meet-

ing venue and saw our Heritage Car Show located at Hazelmere RV park where the first Heritage show took place.

The club continues to have a strong membership and most importantly in the volunteers it takes to put on all these events.

We also fondly remember those no longer with us, there were a few.
