Little SquerryesWhen the present owners John and Karen bought the house fifteen years ago, they were looking for their ideal family home, and were delighted to discover Little Squerryes which had everything they were searching for. It is a house that combines a great luxury of space, elegance and superb comfort.

The house also enjoys a rural secluded setting, but is within walking distance to Otham village. It is accessed along an impressive gated driveway, and nestles in the corner of a field, gently surrounded by the beauty of the North Downs.

Little Squerryes can be both a sophisticated venue, as a place to formally entertain, or be a welcoming sociable house for family and friends. There is a wide variety of reception rooms and the entire house has a bright and positive ambience. Daily life is centred on the extensive conservatory that runs from the kitchen. There is a definite wow factor at the first sight of this celebration of glass, light and space, where house and garden merge into one glorious whole.

The conservatory is a special place to relax and dine. Even on the dullest day it is full of light, and it is soothing to watch the clouds drifting overhead. With the doors open, the deck becomes a summer extension to the house, perfect for al fresco dining, or quite simply a place to settle, and relish the silence: and admire the tranquillity of a view that stretches to the far horizon. It is a personal oasis of calm.

The size of the house and gardens create a children’s paradise where they can play in complete safety and security. From the conservatory, you can watch as they have fun in the swimming pool, which has been the scene of many happy summer parties and family gatherings. There is tennis for the energetic, and you can enjoy a cup of tea sitting in the shade of the pretty pavilion.

There is room for everyone to have their own space and the conservatory that runs from the main lounge is yet another charming area. Little Squerreys is a house where you are spoilt for choice, and over the years John and Karen have enjoyed having the house full of noise and laughter. The one bedroom annexe is perfect for overflow guests or perhaps living accommodation for family members.

Wherever you are in the house you have wonderful views of the garden and countryside. The vast master bedroom which is the width of the house has panoramic views to the front and side.

The location is ideal and nearby Maidstone and Blue Water have a wide range of facilities. There are beautiful walks in the area, and a ramble from Otham to Leeds Castle passes by Stoneacre, a National Trust Property. Rail commuters can travel from nearby Bearsted into Victoria and return to the peace of Little Squerryes every evening.

John and Karen have many happy memories of their life at Little Squerryes. It has been the happy setting for many landmark family celebrations and they are going to miss its space and its tranquillity. However the time has come to downsize and pass the house on to the next owners to enjoy.*
