Live in the Moment! Winter is quickly coming to an end and Spring is right around the corner. This winter has been a reminder of how extreme winter time can really be. It has been months of bitter cold temperatures, slippery ice, stacking snow, and repeated school cancellations. Conversations have revolved around wishing the days would pass quickly and the next season would come quickly. The problem is; if we aren’t careful we will wish Spring away too. We will grow weary of the rain. The sales of allergy medicines will skyrocket as grass, trees, and flowers begin to bloom.

Then comes Summer. Quickly welcomed but, oh the heat. Painful sunburns and budgeting high electric bill as the air conditioners run nonstop through the night will be dreaded.

Next thing you know Fall is here. Although the landscape produces a picture that is breathtaking; I don’t know anyone that celebrates the never-ending tasks of raking the leaves and clearing rain gutters and drains.

And just like that; we are back to winter! Too many times we wish the moment away without enjoying the time we are given.

That’s why I am challenging you to live in the moment. Look for the best in every minute that you live. Find a reason to thank the Lord for what is going on around you always. Paul wrote, “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” (Ephesians 5:15-17)

We measure the length of life in years, but don’t forget that years consist of months that are made up of days that contain hours that are made up of minutes that hold seconds. The next time that you long for tomorrow to come remember you are wishing away a day, minutes, and seconds that you will never get back; look at every moment as a gift from God and live in it!
