Letter from the Director I am so thankful for you and humbled by you. Because of sponsors like you, children get to experience something that is once in a lifetime. The not only get to experience a summer camp, but they also learn valuable lessons about not only life, but

themselves as well. Through contributions, we have been able to build five additional dormitory cabins and update the mess hall. We also have been able to hire five new counselors, a new cook and bring in special guests to teach the children new activities and crafts. This year, we are looking into hiring an assistant programs coordinator that will be in charge of the day-to-day running of the camp, while I concentrate on coordinating events and planning activities for the children. Due to the increase in enrollment at Live Life Love Life, it is extremely difficult to keep up with the office work and give the children the attention they need and deserve.

We are all so excited for our upcoming events. The Live Life Love Life benefit dinner and silent auction is coming up in January. This is the biggest fundraising event of the year. We have a former camper, Morgan Wilson, speaking about how Live Life Love Life has changed her life. Live Life Love Life also has several weekend retreats during the fall. Please check the calendar on our website www.livelifelovelife.org for more information about what the retreats include. The biggest fall event we hold will be on Oct. 27, 2012. We will be holding a fall carnival that include games and food. We hope that you can come join us in the fall celebration. Again, thank you for your continued support. Without donors like you, we would not be able to give children the opportunity to learn to love learning.

With warmest regards,

Macey WilsonPresident of Live Life Love [email protected]

Local Woman Serves Community Through Vegetable Garden

Her arms are weighed down with vegetables. She comes inside with dirt and who knows what else on her jeans and under her fingernails. This is a daily occurrence for Morgan Wilson, a former Live Life Love Life camper. Live Life Love Life is a nonprofit organization that provides summer camps for kids. She has used the skills she learned at Live Life Love Life for many years. “It’s amazing to me,” Morgan said. “I never thought what I learned at camp would turn into what I wanted to do in life.” Morgan runs a fresh foods bank for the needy from her home. She provides the homeless a place to get fresh food. “I know what it’s like to be truly hungry,” Morgan said. “I know what it’s like to not have enough to eat, or have food that isn’t fresh because you can’t afford it.” Morgan went to Live Life Love Life as a child. She learned all sorts of hands-on things like cooking, baking, swimming and crafting. What she enjoyed the most, however, was learning to garden. “I had never been exposed to gardening before,” Morgan said. “I instantly fell in love with taking care of plants and thought it was really cool that you actually got to eat what you grew.” After Morgan’s days at camp were over, she went on to work hard in school. She decided, with the guidance from Candy Cutter, co-founder of Live Life Love Life, that she wanted to go to college for botany.

“Morgan just had a thirst for knowledge,” Candy said. “We remained close after she finished her time in the program. I did everything I could to help her maintain grades to get scholarships for college so she could go.” After high school, Morgan went on to Oklahoma State University where she graduated in the top 10 percent of her class. “It was always a dream of mine to help other people the way Live Life Love Life helped me,” Morgan said. “It just made sense to me to start up a garden to help people after I graduated and got a job.” There are more than 1,300

homeless people in Oklahoma City, according to the 2012 “Point-In-Time” survey done by Oklahoma City “I want to help

those in my community as much as possible,” Morgan said. “I was never on the streets, thankfully, but I know the hardships of not having enough to eat. The number of homeless people in the area is continually growing; I want to help as much as I can. “I’m just so thankful that I found a way out of the cycle through Live Life Learn Life. Before I went, I didn’t really like school or learning. The camp showed me how much fun learning could really be. I found my passion through it, and I am so thankful to have had the support system they offered me. “I think Live Life Love Life really lives up to their name. It not only allowed me to live a life I love, but it also made me appreciate what I have. I get to live out my dream every day!”

“It was always a dream of mine to help other people the way Live Life Love Life helped me.”

Helping Any Way You Can She gets up at 4 a.m. to start the coffee and get the breakfast ingredients out. Eggs, bacon, sausage, pancake batter, milk and juice are all pulled out of the refrigerator. This is how volunteer head cook, Robin McFarland, starts every day during the summer. She graciously volunteers her time during the summer to help Live Life Love Life and the children that attend the camp. “I just love kids,” McFarland says. McFarland has been volunteering at the camp since it opened. “I found out about the camp through Candy,” McFarland Said. “The girls had the idea to start up this camp, and I knew I wanted to help in some way. In the kitchen was the best way I knew how.” Co-founder Candy Cutter knew that McFarland would be the perfect person for the job. “Robin has a heart for giving,” Cutter said. “She has always liked children. I knew she could handle managing a kitchen because of her experience working in the local school kitchen. “We knew we had to bring her in to help us from the get go. She was so thrilled when we asked her to help.” “Helping at Live Life Love Life during the summer has been on of the best decisions I have ever made,”

McFarland said. “I have been more blessed by these children than I could have ever imagined.” McFarland wants to encourage anyone to volunteer at Live Life Love Life. “There’s something for everyone to do here,” McFarland said. “You don’t have to have any special talents to help out. The

kids just want to know that adults actually care. I can see the difference in the kids. If you can simply play with them, it makes them incredibly happy! “There’s something for everyone. We even need people to be in charge of picking up and dropping off water coolers. “This is such an amazing organization. I have been here from the beginning. I know what it’s like. I want everyone to experience the joy and satisfaction that comes with helping these wonderful children.” If you would like to volunteer your time or resources, please contact Macey Wilson, President and co-founder at [email protected] or call 405-969-5499. Any form of help is greatly appreciated. Everyone has talents that can be utilized to help the children that attend Live Life Love Life. Please volunteer your time today!
