Volunteers are the Heart of LOC!
Meet
Sandra Hernandez
Every Thursday evening a group of medical and lay volunteers meet at the
Dream Center on old Highway 288 to provide healthcare to uninsured residents
of our community. These dedicated men and women are the key to the success
of the Live Oak Clinic. Without the time and effort of these generous people,
LOC would not be able to provide this much needed service to the Brazosport
area.
Our volunteer, Sandra Hernandez, is truly a vital member of this Live Oak Clinic
Team.
Sandra worked as a registered nurse in Colombia before moving to Texas in
2004 with her husband, Ron, and their two children. At Family Life Church she
heard about Live Oak Clinic and decided to volunteer on Thursday nights.

At the clinic she uses both her medical
knowledge and her Spanish to provide care
for the patients. Her ability to interact with
and translate for the non-English speaking
clients is the reason she loves to volunteer.
Sandra is currently attending classes at
Brazosport College working on a degree as a
medical assistant.
Thanks so much, Sandra, for all your help!
Spotlight on Mike Kesseler
Mike Kesseler is Vice- President of the board of directors for Live Oak
Clinic. He grew up in Lake Jackson and returned in 2004 with his wife
and four children. He is the co-owner of Nicks & Kesseler Insurance
located at 28 Circle Way.
Being on the board of LOC gives Mike an opportunity to serve the
community of Brazosport. He likes to use his skills and expertise to
help others and to make a difference in their lives. He finds it very
satisfying to hear the success stories of the patients that are helped
each week at the clinic.
Mike's vision for Live Oak Clinic is to be open more than one day a
week because he knows there is a tremendous need for low cost health
care.
Board Members Carol Bohley and Lana
Mauro review the client schedule.
