Ghana - religions, ethnic groups and what washeard

Ghana is one of the most religious countries in the world, and as many as 9 out of 10 people claim thatreligiously.

On the territory of Ghana there are many religions and even larger number of different beliefs, andGhana fertile ground for research of this kind. Although I have heard several theories about everyreligion and found the wall when I want to talk about voodoo magic, I learned that some things inAfrica just shut up, and that the many and varied theories just incredible result of mixing religion on thsoil of Ghana. Also, I realized that, this amazing mix of beliefs, most Europeans simply will never beable to understand it properly. As a respected every religion, these people really live in peace, and civil and religious wars are breakin

this country. However, members of various religious communities are generally physically separated. But one does not bother anyone, everyone is very respectful and that is most important.

    Christianity

I will start with Christianity, the most widespread and dominant religion in Ghana, with around 46% ofollowers. Followers hrianstva the Catholics and Protestants, and Roman Catholicism had a verystrong influence on the traditional religion of Ghana (and West Africa in general).

    Islam

The rate follows Christianity, with about 40% of supporters. The roots of Islam in Africa date back to thtime of the Prophet Muhammad, when his disciples emigrated to Abyssinia (today's Ethiopia) fearing

persecution of pagan Arabs. To the spread of Islam in Ghana (and in general in West Africa) camethrough trade and through sailors. In Accra I even had a chance to see the "city within a city", separatedthe residential area where members of these religions live, but there are, of course, and in all other partof Ghana.

    Judaism

Although Judaism in Africa, but less is known about Christianity and Islam, Judaism still adorns therich history of the African continent. Today one can find Jewish communities in African countries and iGhana (Israeli home in Ghana)

"Abrahamic religions" is a term used for a religion originating from ancient and common Semitictraditions whose adherents follow Abraham, the biblical patriarch whose life is narrated in the OldTestament and the Koran. This group includes many monotheistic religions, among which the mostfamous are Christianity, Islam, Judaism and Baha'i.Although the majority of Africans follow Christianity or Islam, they often combine their traditionalbeliefs with the practice of the Abrahamic religions. Abrahamic religions are very widespread in Africaand replaced by the African religions, but they are often customized and African cultural contexts andbeliefs.

    Baha'ism

Bah' (Baha'i) is the third most abundant of the Abrahamic religions in Africa after Islam andChristianity, and enhanced growth, ie. expansion experienced in the 50's and 60's of the 20th century.

    Syncretism

Syncretism is spanjanje or mixing religion in Africa between Christianity and traditional religions aswell as between Islam and traditional religions.African religions are syncretic considered are: Mami Wata, Nkabah or so. Aladura churches, such as thmovement Cherub and seraphim. Often it is debatable whether a church belonging to Christianity and

    syncretism.

    Traditional African religion

In Ghana, it still held a large number of traditional beliefs, often unique to a specific geographic region.Beliefs are a number of years passed from generation to generation, while suffering the impact of newgenerations.Traditional religions have missionaries but, according to family tradition, a strong hold in the nationand the trend is the strengthening of traditional religion in Ghana. The colonialists were forcibly baptized a large number of African slaves who still tried (and succeeded)to preserve the original religion, as a strong element of cultural identity.

VoodooVoodoo religion is widespread mainly in Zpadnoj Africa, where it began to spread, when theinhabitants of West Africa began to taken to America as slaves. In Ghana, the Vudu highly respected, and people who follow the voodoo believe in the healing power of the blood and organs of animals. In the language of West African nations voodoo means spirit or deity. Vudu through thousands of yearof its existence, became a hybrid religion, blending with the African, Islamic, and most Catholicelements. Through the voodoo religion in rituals to invoke spirits, most spirits of ancestors and thespirits of the good forces, which should solve earthly problems to those who invoke them.Vudu is now actively practiced in Ghana, although a few people will openly talk to a stranger aboutsome things I was able to learn from different people. I'll try to fit them into a whole ...

The followers of the voodoo religion are highly developed cult of ancestors who strongly respected. They believe in one supreme God, but with him in a whole different group of spiritual beings (spirits odeceased family members, the forces of the universe, etc.)Vudu is the most peaceful religion in Ghana, dealing with family good spirits, but there's voodooreligion that followers give opiates, where he practiced black magic and evil on people what is generalland created a bad image of the voodoo religion in the world. Fortunately, these followers are, at least afar as Ghana, are in the minority! On the big market of African totems that I visited I found a number of talismans that protect againstevil, who make all kinds of progress that attract lightning whoever you do something bad ...Frankly, the whole market'm limited to ritual masks that I brought a dozen, and when I open them in

returning to Belgrade, somehow I suddenly realized I was not just conveniently donate them because itwould be weird to tell your friends-this mask will definitely allow multiple offspring or This maskmakes the evil spirits out of the house ... It is highly probable that you will be misunderstood, and it'snot just applicable to the European standards. In Africa, you become someone completely different, jusbecause I have so much love in that continent. Somehow, these traders you 'drawn on the skin, "eventhough I baked a good many years in the trade bargaining by bypassing various Islamic destinations, these smiling people could not" resist ". There's something strange ..
