Third Sunday of Lent
Third Sunday of Lent Dear Sisters and Brothers, It is the third week of Lent and at the end of March we will celebrate Holy Week and Easter. Both of those seasons are inseparable and they keep mixing into our daily life. We live moments of happiness as if it was the Easter already, and then we get hit by the events of Holy
Week - the Passion and death again, as we have with the Pandemic that keeps coming in waves.
And when does the Resurrection come? After death? How long it takes to cross the line of loss and pain, to arrive at the Resurrection and Easter joy and happiness again? For those families who lost their loved ones to the pandemic it will be a long experience. Calendar Easter comes regularly, and it seems to come so fast. But as we observed, there are too many Good Fridays happening in the course of one year, too many tragedies and senseless acts of evil affecting many people, affecting our lives. What would life be like without the Easter? What would life be like without the Resurrection? What is it like for those families affected directly by those tragedies of loss to be grieving daily? And for how long? When will the Easter come for them?
As I looked on the readings of this Sunday, what is striking is the beauty and wisdom of them all. Jesus is the Incarnated Wisdom, talking in parables about the temple of his body ready to be raised on the third day. Jesus being preoccupied with the Temple and true worship of God, shows anger and irritation towards the system and culture created around the place of worship. He shows the connection between worship and the sanctity of the temple of our body. Our life and our faith are one. True worship is necessary to be able to preserve the truth of the faith, that is God’s revelation, the life and wisdom of faith. This is why the temple of Christ’s Body sanctifies the temples of our bodies and the temples of our churches and tabernacles.
The wisdom of our revealed faith is given to us in the 10 Commandments given to Moses. This is the bill of human rights, that Jesus summed up in saying - love the Lord your God, and your neighbor as yourself - this is the most just thing to do in life. Is it not very simple? Yet the practice shows how far away we get sometimes from this truth.
The best description of it we find in Saint Paul, in Second Reading today as he says: “Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we proclaim Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those who are called, Jews and Greeks alike, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.” (1Cor 1:22-25)
Who, but Saint Paul could make such an explanation of that parable of the temple of the body and of the wisdom of life? Lord, continue to teach us about the temples of our bodies and about the wisdom of our faith, and help us to embody into our lives what we learn from you. The wisdom of the cross and suffering is not easy to learn, and even more difficult to imitate. We will always struggle to accept the crosses in our lives, as they come very unnatural to us. It is only by looking at Jesus, that we eventually reconcile with the crosses, but we are far from welcoming them. We know that we are saved by Jesus’ cross, suffering, and death, but we are not eager to embrace them in our lives. I guess we lack the faith that our crosses and suffering have redemptive value. The mystics know it and do it. Maybe this is why we are not so eager and persevering in becoming mystical, because we are afraid of suffering and the cross, in a sense we are afraid of being too close to Christ, not to become too much like him; crucified.
Let us not be afraid of Christ’s friendship, let us look for the opportunities to experience the Lord and his wisdom: in worship, prayer, service. Our faith seeking union with Christ builds up the temples of our bodies, as the Spirit of God dwells in them. God bless everyone always!!!

Tercer Domingo de Cuaresma
Queridas Hermanas y Hermanos,
Es la tercera semana de Cuaresma y a finales de Marzo celebraremos la
Semana Santa y la Pascua. Ambas estaciones son inseparables y siguen
mezclándose en nuestra vida diaria. Vivimos momentos de felicidad como si
ya fuera Semana Santa, y luego nos golpean los eventos de la Semana Santa, La Pasión y la
muerte nuevamente, como lo tenemos con la Pandemia que sigue llegando con olas.
¿Y cuando llega la Resurrección? ¿Después de la muerte? ¿Cuánto tiempo se tarda en cruzar la línea de la perdida
y el dolor, en llegar de nuevo a la Resurrección y la alegría y la felicidad pascuales? Para aquellas familias que
perdieron a sus seres queridos a causa de la pandemia, será una larga experiencia. Calendario La Pascua llega con
regularidad, y parece que llega muy rápido. Pero como observamos, hay demasiados Viernes Santos sucediendo en
el transcurso de un año, demasiadas tragedias y actos de maldad sin sentido que afectan a muchas personas y
afectan nuestras vidas. ¿Cómo seria la vida sin la Pascua? ¿Qué seria de la vida sin la Resurrección? ¿Cómo es para
las familias afectadas directamente por esas tragedias de perdida estar sufriendo a diario? ¿Y por cuanto tiempo?
¿Cuándo vendrá la Pascua para ellos?
Mientras miraba las lecturas de este Domingo, estaba impactado la belleza y la sabiduría de todas ellas. Jesus es la
Sabiduría Encarnada, hablando en parábolas sobre el templo de su cuerpo listo para resucitar al tercer día. Jesus,
preocupado por el Templo y la verdadera adoración a Dios, muestra ira e irritación hacia el sistema y la cultura
creados alrededor del lugar de adoración. Muestra la conexión entre la adoración y la santidad del templo de nuestro
cuerpo. Nuestra vida y nuestra fe son una. La verdadera adoración es necesaria para poder preservar la verdad de la
fe, que es la revelación de Dios, la vida y la sabiduría de la fe. Por eso el templo del Cuerpo de Cristo santifica los
templos de nuestro cuerpo y los templos de nuestras iglesias y tabernáculos.
La sabiduría de nuestra fe revelada se nos da en los Diez Mandamientos dados a Moisés. Esta es la declaración de
derechos humanos, que Jesus resumió diciendo: ama al Señor tu Dios y a tu prójimo como a ti mismo, esto es lo mas
justo que puedes hacer en la vida. ¿No es muy sencillo? Sin embargo, la practica muestra lo lejos que nos alejamos a
veces de esta verdad.
La mejor descripción la encontramos hoy en San Pablo en la segunda lectura, cuando dice: "Los Judíos exigen
señales y los Griegos buscan sabiduría, pero nosotros anunciamos a Cristo crucificado, escandalo para los Judíos y
necedad para los gentiles, pero para los llamados. Judíos y Griegos por igual, Cristo el poder de Dios y la sabiduría de
Dios. Porque la locura de Dios es mas sabia que la sabiduría humana, y la debilidad de Dios es mas fuerte que la
fuerza humana”.
Quien, sino San Pablo, podría hacer tal explicación de esa parábola del templo del cuerpo y de la sabiduría de la
vida. Señor, continua enseñándonos sobre los templos de nuestro cuerpo y sobre la sabiduría de nuestra fe, y
ayúdanos a incorporar a nuestras vidas lo que aprendemos de ti. La sabiduría de la cruz y el sufrimiento no es fácil de
aprender y aun mas difícil de imitar. Siempre lucharemos por aceptar las cruces en nuestras vidas, ya que nos resultan
muy antinaturales. Es solo mirando a Jesus que finalmente nos reconciliamos con las cruces, pero estamos lejos de
darles la bienvenida. Sabemos que somos salvados por la cruz, el sufrimiento y la muerte de Jesus, pero no estamos
ansiosos por abrazarlos en nuestras vidas. Supongo que carecemos de fe en que nuestras cruces y sufrimiento tienen
valor redentor. Los místicos lo saben y lo hacen. Quizás por eso no estamos tan ansiosos y perseverantes en
volvernos místicos, porque tenemos miedo del sufrimiento y la cruz, en cierto sentido tenemos miedo de estar dema-
siado cerca de Cristo, de no parecernos demasiado a el; crucificado.
No tengamos miedo de la amistad de Cristo, busquemos las oportunidades para experimentar al Señor y su
sabiduría: en la adoración; oración, servicio. Nuestra fe, que busca la unión con Cristo, edifica los templos de nuestro
cuerpo, ya que el Espíritu de Dios habita en ellos.

El tiempo de Cuaresma
El tiempo de Cuaresma nació marcado por dos hechos sacramentales: era el
tiempo en que los que querían bautizarse culminaban su preparación para
celebrar el Bautismo en la Vigilia Pascual (¡el día de la resurrección de
Jesucristo es el mejor día para incorporarse a su vida nueva!); y era el tiempo
en el que los pecadores (los que habían roto gravemente la comunión eclesial
con su comportamiento) hacían penitencia para ser reconciliados el Jueves Santo y volver así a la
comunidad.
El eco de estos dos sacramentos marca también nuestra Cuaresma: es tiempo para
reconciliarnos con Dios (y hace bien celebrar la penitencia comunitariamente al final del tiempo) y
es tiempo de renovar nuestro bautismo en la Vigilia Pascual.
Y este camino culminará con un tercer sacramento, el sacramento de la presencia constante de
Jesús resucitado en medio de nosotros: la Eucaristía. Porque la Eucaristía de la noche de Pascua
es, efectivamente, el momento culminante de todo nuestro camino cristiano.
La Cuaresma comienza, como una preparación, el Miércoles de Ceniza, y más solemnemente el
primer domingo de Cuaresma. Y acaba el Jueves Santo al mediodía: en la tarde del Jueves
Santo, con la misa de la Cena del Señor nos introducimos en el Triduo Pascual, los días de la
muerte, la sepultura y la resurrección del Señor. La Cuaresma dura cuarenta días, que evocan los
cuarenta días de Jesús en el desierto antes de comenzar su misión, y los cuarenta años del
pueblo de Israel, también en el desierto, de camino hacia la tierra prometida.

Dans la 1ere lecture, après l’Alliance conclue avec Noé au 1er dimanche du carême, puis celle avec Abraham au 2e dimanche, nous voici à celle du Sinaï avec les dix commandements. Les dix commandements énoncés au futur sont dix paroles libératrices et pas simplement un code de vie. C’est une charte de liberté que Jésus viendra parfaire. Hérode le Grand, un roi soumis au pouvoir romain, n’était pas juif. Pour se rendre populaire, il avait restauré le temple de Jérusalem de façon grandiose en dix-neuf avant notre ère. Quand les juifs comptent quarante-six ans pour le bâtir, ils parlent
de ces travaux de restauration. Le temple était très fréquenté, y compris par les marchands de bœufs, de brebis et de colombes. Un champ de foire dans le lieu de la prière. Voyant cela, Jésus réagit très vivement. Un tel coup de colère est rare dans sa vie. En effet, Jésus ne vient pas pour nous condamner, il ne vient pas pour détruire. Il apporte le pardon et invite à la conversion. Jésus parle du temple comme de la maison de mon Père. Les Juifs ne comprenaient pas et demandaient un signe, une garantie. Cet épisode de Jésus est à l’origine de l’arrestation de Jésus et la cause de sa condamnation. Comme c’est un récit composé après Pâques, il s’agit d’une relecture théologique d’un événement historique. Si Jésus utilise cette image du temple détruit, c’est parce qu’il est considéré comme le lieu où Dieu se fait le plus proche. Dieu pour les Juifs restait caché et le rite du sacrifice permettait d’obtenir la purification des péchés par les sacrifices, mais tout en gardant ses distances par rapport à Dieu. Avec Jésus, l’Ancienne Alliance, c’est fini. Une nouvelle alliance est là, radicalement nouvelle. La perception de Dieu s'est précisée. C’est terminé d’offrir à Dieu des sacrifices au lieu de lui parler, au lieu de rechercher une vraie présence. Jésus appelle ses compatriotes à aimer Dieu et son prochain, à être largement ouverts à l’imprévu de Dieu, du prochain et de la vie. Le seul lieu où rencontrer Dieu, ce ne sont plus les pratiques religieuses et rituelles, c'est la personne de Jésus. Ce qui est nouveau est toujours provocant et Jésus nous surprend. Lui qui apporte une nouvelle manière de voir les choses, qui est tourné vers son prochain, qui est amour, s’emporte contre des vendeurs qui faisaient leur travail en permettant grâce à leur commerce que le culte puisse se dérouler. Jésus chasse tous ces intermédiaires qui réduisent l’intensité de la présence de Dieu. Jésus s’en prend donc violemment à tout ce qui pouvait faire barrage à l’amour et la miséricorde de Dieu. L'épisode des marchands du temple est une annonce du projet de Jésus. Ce projet, c'est de se donner complètement, jusqu'à mourir à son être intérieur. C’est y laisser la place pour Dieu. Les dix commande-ments sont des paroles libératrices et c'est plus qu'un temple que nous devons construire nous dit Jésus : c'est un peuple aimant et solidaire. Ce peuple, c'est nous. Soyons, par nos vies, l'image de ce monde à venir. Osons jouer la radicalité de l'Évangile.

ORACION DE COMUNION ESPIRITUAL Creo, Dios mío, que estás presente en el
Santísimo Sacramento del Altar; te amo, te adoro y deseo recibirte; mas, no pudiendo
hacerlo ahora sacramentalmente, ven por lo menos espiritualmente a mi corazón.
Como si hubiesei venido, yo me abrazo y uno a ti: No permitas que jamás me separe de Ti.
Así sea.
Acte de communion spirituelle « Seigneur Jésus, je crois fermement que Tu es
présent dans le Saint Sacrement de l’Eucharistie. Je T’aime plus que tout et je Te désire de toute mon âme. « Après toi languit
ma chair comme une terre assoiffée » (psaume 62) Je voudrais Te recevoir aujourd’hui avec
tout l’amour de la Vierge Marie, avec la joie et la ferveur des saints. Puisque je suis empêché de Te recevoir sacramentellement, viens au
moins spirituellement visiter mon âme. Et Ne permet pas que je sois jamais séparé de toi .

Why does the Church honor St. Joseph?

Church honors St. Joseph as the foster father of Jesus. He is invoked as
