Hello there,

This time I have set the same topic for the whole school hopefully making it easier for those of you with brothers and sisters. If you want to have a look at the power-point presentation I made for Key Stage one-this will be good revision, there are also some good clips to watch.

Have fun completing the activities and I look forward to seeing you soon.

Mrs Cuthill

What I am learning How I will show this

Living things can be grouped in a variety of ways.

I can name some animals that have backbones and some that do not. I can tell the difference between five types of animals with backbones. Fish, amphibians, reptiles, mammals and birds.

Classification keys help to group, identify and name a variety of living things.

I can think of good questions to tell the difference between different sorts of plants and animals.

Construct and interpret a variety of food chains, identifying producers, predators and prey.

I can show what animals eat by making a food chain.

A food chain shows which animals eat which other animals (or plants).

Plants don’t eat things. A food chain starts with what gets eaten and the arrows point towards what does the eating.

Remember, the food chain only goes in one direction.

Some organisms are predators, some are prey-some are both.

The predator eats the prey, and the prey gets eaten by the predator.

Plants are called producers, because they make their own food inside themselves.

The animals are called consumers because they consume (eat) food.

I hope you have found this useful and now know a bit more about living things in their environment. Have a great day.
