1) Plan Ahead and Prepare
- Reduces logistical problems
- control waste- Limit litter- Prepare for the
worst- Know regulations- Plan an achievable
route- Plan to limit noise
2) Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces
Durability refers to the ability of surfaces or vegetation to withstand wear or remain in a stable condition.
- Erosion of paths/landslides- Compacted earth
3) Dispose of Waste Properly
- Litter harms wildlife- Disrespectful to future visitors- Attract animals- Cat holing
4) Leave What You Find
- Population/traffic increase multiplies issues- Taking artifacts- Preserve the past
5) Minimize Campfire Impacts
- Wood use/vegetation damage
- Waste in fire chemical contact/leeching
6) Respect Wildlife
- Leave green wood/plants- Don’t feed animals- Animals home not yours change to phyiscal make up
- Avoid during sensitive times

- don’t leave garbage - Allow for traffic flow on trail- Noise pollution- Use established trails
